Copper Foil Polyester Belt

Copper Foil Polyester Belt

Copper Plastic Composite Tape With 100 dB Shielding

Product Overview

What This Product Is

Copper polyester tape, also called copper-plastic composite tape, is copper foil bonded to PET film with adhesive. Copper gives higher shielding performance than aluminium — around 100 dB attenuation in the 1 to 100 MHz band — and the polyester layer strengthens the foil so it survives the taping process. It is the shield material for high-performance cable: computer cable, signal cable, communication cable, coaxial cable, FPC and soft circuit boards.

Key Benefits

What It Gives Your Production Line

Higher Shielding Than Aluminium Tape

Shielding attenuation of about 100 dB in the 1 to 100 MHz range, where aluminium composites reach up to 70 dB.

PET Backing Carries the Tension

The polyester film strengthens the copper foil's tensile performance through the taping head.

Conductive and Thermally Efficient

Rolled or electrolytic copper foil offers outstanding conductivity and efficient heat dissipation.

Slit Narrow for Fine Cable

Minimum slitting width of 2 mm with 5 mm as the conventional width, on 52 mm or 76 mm cores.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

  • Shielded cables with high performance requirements
  • Computer cable
  • Signal cable
  • Communication cable
  • Coaxial cable
  • FPC and soft circuit board shielding
Who It Is For

Who Buys It

  • Manufacturers of premium shielded data cable
  • FPC and flexible circuit producers
  • Cable plants meeting strict EMC targets
Problems It Solves

The Reasons Buyers Move To This Product

Aluminium Shielding Is Not Enough

Where the EMC target is demanding, copper's higher attenuation closes the gap without adding a braid.

Foil Tears on Narrow Slits

Copper slit to 2 mm needs the PET backing to hold together during application.

Oxidised Foil Bonds Badly

Low surface oxygen levels give the tape excellent adhesion to metals and insulating materials.

Manufacturing And Quality Control

How It Is Produced And Checked

Materials are produced to the stated thickness, width and formulation, then slit, wound and packed to the reel or core size ordered. Dimensional checks are made against the specification before dispatch.

  1. Incoming Material

Foil, film, compound or wire checked for thickness and surface condition before processing.

  2. Processing

Coating, lamination, slitting or drawing to the ordered dimension.

  3. Dimensional Check

Width, thickness and roll or reel diameter verified against the specification.

  4. Performance Reference

Shielding attenuation and conductivity referenced to the published figures for the grade.

  5. Packing

Shaft or reel packing in cartons for safe handling and transport.

Customisation Options

What Can Be Changed

  • Copper foil thickness 12 to 20 µm
  • Polyester film thickness 12 to 23 µm
  • Slitting width from 2 mm
  • Bore size 52 mm or 76 mm
  • Roll outer diameter up to 800 mm
Use Guide

Working With It On Your Line

  • Handle rolls by the core — fingerprints on copper foil oxidise and show as adhesion defects.
  • Match slit width to your cable diameter and overlap requirement before ordering.
  • Keep the tape sealed until use; exposed copper dulls in humid air.
  • Check the copper-to-drain-wire contact on a finished sample when shielding continuity is specified.

FAQ

Copper Foil Polyester Belt FAQ

What shielding attenuation does copper tape achieve?

Approximately 100 dB, primarily in the 1 to 100 MHz range used for anti-electromagnetic interference.

Which thicknesses are available?

Copper foil in 12, 15, 18 and 20 µm, with polyester film in 12, 15, 19 and 23 µm.

How narrow can the tape be slit?

Minimum slitting width is 2 mm, with 5 mm as the conventional width.

What bore and roll sizes are supplied?

Bore size 52 mm or 76 mm, with a maximum winding outer diameter of 800 mm, in shaft packing form and carton packaging.

Why is the polyester layer there?

The polyester film strengthens the tensile strength of the copper foil so it survives slitting and taping.
