Semi-Finished FTP CAT6 LAN Cable

Semi-Finished FTP CAT6 LAN Cable

Foil Shielded CAT6 Core With Drain Wire for OEM Jacketing

Product Overview

What This Product Is

FTP CAT6 is four tightly twisted 23 AWG pairs under one aluminium-polyester foil, with a tinned copper drain wire and no outer sheath. It holds CAT6 performance to 250 MHz while giving the noise immunity that plain UTP cannot, and the round geometry is deliberately kept stable so the jacket extrudes evenly at high line speed. Typical finished products are CPR-classified LAN cable for European infrastructure work.

Key Benefits

What It Gives Your Production Line

Foil Shield Without Braid Cost

One overall F/UTP foil handles noise from power lines, lighting and industrial electronics at a lower cost than braided construction.

Full CAT6 Margin Retained

NEXT of 55 dB or better and attenuation of 20.9 dB/100m, consistent to 250 MHz.

Round Geometry for Stable Extrusion

Consistent pair lay length and tension improve electrical matching and jacket adhesion.

Straight Into CPR Production

LSZH jacketing on this core produces cable for Dca, Cca or B2ca classification under your own certificate.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

  • FTP CAT6 LAN cable for structured cabling systems
  • Office buildings, schools, hospitals and industrial parks
  • CPR-certified cable for EU infrastructure projects
  • Telecom racks, backbone cabling and EMI-prone zones
Who It Is For

Who Buys It

  • Cable makers serving European structured cabling markets
  • OEMs supplying IP surveillance and PoE installers
  • Plants that jacket and classify cable under their own brand
Problems It Solves

The Reasons Buyers Move To This Product

PoE Loads Raise the Stakes

PoE and PoE+ put current through data pairs. A shielded CAT6 core keeps performance predictable under load.

Foil Taping Is a Separate Process

Adding a taping head and its controls is an investment. The core arrives already taped at 100 percent coverage.

European Tenders Demand Classification

The core is built so LSZH jacketing gives you a classifiable finished cable without redesign.

Manufacturing And Quality Control

How It Is Produced And Checked

Conductors are insulated in HDPE and colour-coded, twisted into pairs with lay length controlled pair by pair, then shielded with foil and where specified a braid. Electrical performance is verified against the published limits before the core is reeled. The jacket is not applied.

  1. Conductor And Insulation

Solid bare copper to IEC 60228 Class 1 insulated in colour-coded HDPE.

  2. Lay Length Control

Pair twist pitch controlled per pair, which is what decides NEXT and PSNEXT margin.

  3. Shield Application

Foil coverage and drain wire contact checked where the construction is shielded.

  4. Electrical Testing

NEXT, PSNEXT, return loss, attenuation and delay skew checked against the published limits.

  5. Drum Packing

PE film-wrapped wooden drums, cores left unprinted for your own marking.

Customisation Options

What Can Be Changed

  • Foil type: single or double-sided Al/PET, 25 to 50 μm
  • Drain wire: tinned copper, for example 0.4 mm² or 0.5 mm²
  • With or without PE central filler
Use Guide

Working With It On Your Line

  • Keep the foil overlap facing the same way through the line so shielding stays continuous.
  • Check drain wire continuity on each drum before jacketing rather than after.
  • Set jacket temperature so the foil is not scorched at the taping seam.
  • Supply grounding instructions with the finished cable so installers bond the drain wire correctly.
