Foamed Insulation Coaxial Cable Core

Conductor Plus Foamed Dielectric Before Shielding and Braiding

Product Overview

What This Product Is

This is the earliest stage we sell: the inner conductor with its foamed insulation extruded, cooled and gauged, but no shielding, braiding or jacket yet. Plants buy it when they already own braiding and jacketing capacity but not a foaming extruder, which is the hardest part of the coaxial process to run well. Cell size, insulation diameter and concentricity are controlled and monitored on line, so the core is ready to take foil and braid as soon as it reaches your shop.

Semi-Finished Coaxial Cable

Foamed Insulation Coaxial Cable Core
Key Benefits

What It Gives Your Production Line

Skip the Hardest Process Step

Physical or chemical foaming with closed-loop diameter control is capital-heavy and slow to master. This buys the output, not the equipment.

Lower Attenuation Than Solid Insulation

A foamed dielectric lowers the dielectric constant, which improves transmission and reduces loss.

Lighter Cable per Metre

Foamed insulation weighs less than solid insulation, which shows up in freight cost on finished cable.

Ready for Your Shield and Braid

Surface finish and concentricity are controlled so foil wrapping and braiding run without re-work.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

  • RG coaxial cable production such as RG6 and RG59
  • CATV cable manufacturing
  • Satellite TV cable
  • Broadband internet cable
  • RF signal transmission cable
Who It Is For

Who Buys It

  • Cable plants with braiding and jacketing lines but no foaming extruder
  • Manufacturers adding coaxial to an existing LAN cable operation
  • Producers who want to control shielding design in-house
Problems It Solves

The Reasons Buyers Move To This Product

Foaming Quality Is Hard to Hold

Cell size, density and diameter drift show up later as attenuation variation. The core arrives already gauged and monitored.

Capital Sits Idle Between Orders

A foaming line only pays back at volume. Buying cores turns a fixed cost into a per-metre cost.

Adhesion Failures at the Next Step

Conductor cleaning and surface preparation before extrusion decide whether the insulation bonds properly.

Manufacturing And Quality Control

How It Is Produced And Checked

Production runs from conductor preparation — rod drawing, annealing, stranding and surface cleaning — through foamed insulation extrusion with controlled cell size and on-line diameter monitoring, then foil wrapping and braiding to the shield specification ordered. The line stops before jacket extrusion.

  1. Conductor Preparation

Rod drawing, annealing and surface cleaning so the insulation bonds without microvoids.

  2. Insulation Monitoring

Insulation thickness and concentricity monitored continuously on line during extrusion.

  3. Shield Verification

Foil overlap and braid coverage checked against the ordered shield construction.

  4. Electrical Spot Check

Impedance and attenuation sampled against the published values for the construction.

  5. Reel Packing

Reels wrapped in plastic film against moisture and dust, then cartoned or palletised.

Customisation Options

What Can Be Changed

  • Copper or CCA conductor
  • Solid or stranded conductor
  • Foamed PE or FEP dielectric
  • Insulation diameter to your RG specification
  • Reel length and reel type
Use Guide

Working With It On Your Line

  • Bring reels to workshop temperature before braiding so the dielectric diameter is stable.
  • Handle with wide-radius rollers; a bare foamed core marks more easily than a shielded cable.
  • Wrap foil immediately after unwinding where the workshop is dusty.
  • Record the core reel number against finished cable so attenuation results can be traced back.

FAQ

Foamed Insulation Coaxial Cable Core FAQ

What exactly is supplied at this stage?

The inner conductor with the foamed insulation layer extruded, cooled and gauged. There is no shielding, braid or jacket.

Why is foamed insulation used instead of solid?

It lowers the dielectric constant, which improves signal transmission and reduces attenuation, and it makes the cable lighter and more cost effective.

Which conductors are available?

Copper or copper-clad aluminium, solid or stranded, prepared by drawing, annealing and surface cleaning before extrusion.

What comes after this stage?

Aluminium foil or copper tape wrapping, copper or CCA braiding, jacket extrusion in PVC, PE or LSZH, then marking and coiling.

How is insulation consistency checked?

Insulation thickness and concentricity are monitored continuously on line during extrusion.
