Stronger Than CCA for High Flex Data and HDMI Cable
CCAM is the middle ground in the clad wire family: an aluminium-magnesium alloy core with an electrolytic copper layer, giving 55 to 65 percent IACS with noticeably better tensile strength and fatigue life than plain CCA. It is used where cable is repeatedly moved or bent — HDMI and USB leads, high-speed data cable, automotive and mobile device wiring — and where automated high-speed production would break a weaker conductor.
Material and MouldBraiding and Conductor Wire
Better anti-fatigue performance than CCA, which matters in leads that are coiled and uncoiled daily.
Higher tensile strength means fewer breaks on high-speed braiding and stranding equipment.
55 to 65 percent IACS depending on copper layer thickness, so electrical performance is not sacrificed for strength.
The copper surface allows normal soldering methods at assembly.
Every break is a stop, a splice and a quality risk. A stronger conductor cuts stoppage frequency.
Repeated bending fatigues plain CCA. The alloy core extends life at the strain relief.
CCAM is lighter than pure copper, which helps where harness weight is specified.
