Semi-Finished UTP CAT6 LAN Cable

Semi-Finished UTP CAT6 LAN Cable

23 AWG Unshielded Core for Gigabit Structured Cabling

Product Overview

What This Product Is

The UTP CAT6 core carries four 23 AWG pairs in HDPE insulation, with an optional PE cross-web spline and no outer jacket. It is specified to 250 MHz under TIA/EIA-568.2-D and ISO/IEC 11801 Class E, and conductor diameter tolerance is held to within 0.01 mm so the geometry stays stable through jacketing. Buyers are LAN cable plants that finish, print and box the cable themselves.

Key Benefits

What It Gives Your Production Line

250 MHz Headroom Over CAT5e

NEXT of 55 dB or better and attenuation of 20.9 dB/100m give margin that survives bundled installations.

Spline Option for Crosstalk Control

An optional PE cross-web separates the pairs where NEXT margin has to be maximised.

Tight Conductor Tolerance

Conductor diameter tolerance within 0.01 mm keeps electrical matching consistent from drum to drum.

Every Jacket Type Supported

PVC, LSZH or PE, with colour, striping, printing and branding applied during jacketing.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

  • OEM manufacture of UTP CAT6 LAN cable
  • Structured cabling for homes, offices, campuses, retail and hospitality
  • 1G Ethernet, VoIP and IPTV networks
  • Smart lighting and building data transmission
Who It Is For

Who Buys It

  • LAN cable manufacturers with jacketing capacity only
  • Brands selling CAT6 under their own label
  • Assembly shops producing patch cords and keystone-terminated leads
Problems It Solves

The Reasons Buyers Move To This Product

Twisting Quality Decides CAT6 Pass Rates

Lay length and tension control are where CAT6 cores fail. The core is produced with lay length managed pair by pair.

Bundled Runs Lose Margin

Crosstalk rises when cables are bundled tightly. Optional spline construction protects NEXT and PSNEXT margin.

Compliance Marking Differs by Country

Unprinted cores let one purchase serve several regional labelling requirements.

Technical Features

Construction And Materials

  • Conductor: solid bare copper, 23 AWG (0.57 mm nominal), IEC 60228 Class 1

Manufacturing And Quality Control

How It Is Produced And Checked

Conductors are insulated in HDPE and colour-coded, twisted into pairs with lay length controlled pair by pair, then shielded with foil and where specified a braid. Electrical performance is verified against the published limits before the core is reeled. The jacket is not applied.

  1. Conductor And Insulation

Solid bare copper to IEC 60228 Class 1 insulated in colour-coded HDPE.

  2. Lay Length Control

Pair twist pitch controlled per pair, which is what decides NEXT and PSNEXT margin.

  3. Shield Application

Foil coverage and drain wire contact checked where the construction is shielded.

  4. Electrical Testing

NEXT, PSNEXT, return loss, attenuation and delay skew checked against the published limits.

  5. Drum Packing

PE film-wrapped wooden drums, cores left unprinted for your own marking.

Customisation Options

What Can Be Changed

  • Bare or tinned copper conductor
  • With or without PE cross-filler
  • Conductor diameter tolerance ≤ ± 0.01 mm
  • Specific lay lengths per pair to tune NEXT and PSNEXT
  • Adapted to your extrusion line compatibility
Use Guide

Working With It On Your Line

  • Feed the spline straight into the jacket head; a twisted spline pushes the core out of round.
  • Test NEXT and return loss on a jacketed sample, not on the bare core, because the jacket shifts impedance slightly.
  • Keep drum-to-drum changeovers marked in your production log so field test failures can be traced.
  • Store reels flat-wound and upright to protect the pair geometry.

FAQ

Semi-Finished UTP CAT6 LAN Cable FAQ

What bandwidth does this core support?

250 MHz as defined by TIA/EIA-568.2-D and ISO/IEC 11801 Class E, supporting 1 Gigabit Ethernet.

Is the spline included?

It is optional. The PE cross-web improves NEXT performance and can be specified per order.

How tight is conductor tolerance?

Conductor diameter tolerance is held to within 0.01 mm.

Can lay length be adjusted?

Yes. Specific lay lengths per pair can be set to tune NEXT and PSNEXT for your finished cable.

Does the core carry any printing?

No. It is a bare core so your own print legend and compliance marking are applied after jacketing.
