CAT5e Semi-Finished Cores At A Glance
CAT5e cores use 24 AWG solid bare copper at 0.51 mm nominal with HDPE insulation, specified to 100 MHz and 1000BASE-T over 100 metres. Three shielding levels are available on the same electrical platform: plain UTP for cost-led work, FTP with an overall foil for moderate interference, and S/FTP with foil on every pair plus a braid for genuinely noisy sites.
