Grade Names That Do Not Match Across Standards
A drawing calls out 1.2379 while the workshop quotes D2 and the die maker asks for SKD11. All three appear in this range under one item so the equivalence is settled before the order is cut rather than after delivery.
Painting and Repainting Exposed Steelwork

What is the difference between Corten plate and ordinary carbon plate?
Weathering steel is ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion resistant elements such as copper and nickel added. It is a low alloy series that sits between carbon steel and stainless steel and it keeps the strength ductility and forming characteristics of good quality steel.
Is SPA-H the same as A588 Corten plate?
They are both weather resistant atmospheric corrosion resistant plate under different naming systems. SPA-H and Corten Steel Plate-A588 are supplied separately here so you can order against the designation your drawing or your inspector uses.
What does the number in S460 S550 and S690 mean?
The S denotes structural and the number is the minimum yield strength in MPa. S690 is a high strength structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 690 MPa and S550 and S460 follow the same rule at 550 and 460 MPa.
What thickness can you supply in the high strength structural grades?
