Tinplate is cold rolled low carbon steel coated with commercial pure tin on both faces, which puts the strength and formability of steel behind the corrosion resistance solderability and finish of tin. Tianyu Metal supplies electrolytic tinplate as coil strip and sheet in 0.15-0.50mm thickness with tin coating from 1.1 to 11.2 g/m2 and temper from T2 through DR8, to GB/T 2520-2008 JIS G3303-2008 DIN EN 10203-1991 and ASTM A623M-2011. Stainless coil and sheet in 304 316 and 316L cover the filling and handling equipment on the other side of the same plant.

Specification Against the Fill
Tell us the product going in the can, the press and the seamer. Coating weight temper and thickness follow from those three rather than from a catalog line.
Standard Alignment
Material is ordered to GB/T 2520-2008 JIS G3303-2008 DIN EN 10203-1991 or ASTM A623M-2011 depending on which standard your customer audits against.
Base Steel and Temper Selection
SPCC MR or SPCH base with continuous annealing or batch annealing selected for the forming behavior the line already runs.
Surface and Passivation
Bright stone or silver finish with passivation treatment and DOS oil applied so the surface is ready for lacquer and print.
decoiling and Cut to Size
Coil is slit from the 600-1050mm width or cut into sheets, with coil inside diameter at 420 or 508mm and coil weight from 1 to 5 MT to suit the uncoiler.
Inspection and Documentation

What tin coating weight should we order for an acidic product?
Coating weights run from 1.1 to 11.2 g/m2 and the heavier end of that range is where acidic fills sit. Tell us the product and the shelf life you need and we will quote the coating weight against it rather than defaulting to a standard number.
Which temper do we use for can bodies and which for ends?
Bodies usually come from the single reduced T2 to T5 range and ends and closures from the harder tempers including the double reduced DR7 DR7M and DR8. Both are available in batch annealed and continuous annealed condition.
What thickness and width can you hold?
Thickness is 0.15-0.50mm with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.01mm and coil width is 600-1050mm with a tolerance of 0 to 3mm. Narrower strip is slit from that width.
Which standards is the tinplate produced to?

Can we buy sheet instead of coil?
Yes. The same material is supplied as coil strip or cut sheet, so a plant running a sheet fed press does not have to install a cut to length line to use it.

ISO9001 BV SGS and RoHS certification is provided along with a mill test certificate for the material supplied. Ask for the mill test certificate at order stage so it travels with the shipping documents.
