GI and PPGI steel coil is the zinc coated part of the steel coil range and covers Galvanized Steel Coil, Galvanized Steel Strip and Pre-Painted Galvanized Steel Coil. GI is the bare zinc coated product and PPGI is the same substrate with the paint system already applied at the mill, so a roll former can take the coil straight to the line and produce a finished panel without a paint shop. Steel grades in this range include G250 G350 G450 and G550 together with A36 SS400 S275 S235 Q195 Q235 Q355 SGCC and DX51D, and zinc coating is specified as G20 G30 G40 G60 G90 or in the Z system from Z40 Z60 Z80 Z100 Z120 Z150 up to Z275 and Z350. What is the difference between GI and PPGI coil?
GI is galvanized coil with the zinc coating only. PPGI is pre painted galvanized coil where the paint system is applied over the same zinc coated substrate at the mill so the panel needs no painting after forming.
Which steel grades can I specify for the substrate?
