KCP Series Lined Water Centrifugal Pump

Horizontal single-stage pump in PP, PE and UHMW-PE for water that attacks metal wetted parts

Overview

When the water is the problem rather than the pressure, the answer is not a thicker casing. It is a wetted part the water cannot corrode.

The KCP series is a horizontal, single-stage, back-pull-out centrifugal pump with wetted parts in polypropylene, polyethylene or ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. It handles water and waste water streams that would pit or dissolve a cast iron or stainless casing.

Capacity reaches 300 m³/h, differential head reaches 60 m and discharge branches run from DN 25 to DN 250. Drive ratings go to 200 kW and the pump takes an operating pressure to 10 bar.

Operating temperature spans -20 °C to +80 °C with a solids content limit of approximately 10 percent, so the series covers both cold effluent duties and warm process water without a change of construction.

Key Benefits

What This Pump Does Better

  • Polymer wetted partsPP, PE and UHMW-PE resist the acids, alkalis and chlorides that attack cast iron and stainless steel in dosed water.
  • Wide drive rangeRatings to 200 kW mean the series is not limited to small auxiliary duties; it covers main transfer pumps too.
  • Handles solidsA solids content limit of approximately 10 percent lets the pump take effluent and slurry-bearing water rather than clean liquid only.
  • Choice of impellerClosed or semi-open impellers let the selection trade efficiency against solids passage.
  • Back-pull-out constructionThe rotating assembly withdraws without disturbing the pipework, the same maintenance advantage as the metal ISO series.

The Pump and How It Is Built

Application Scenarios

Where This Pump Is Put to Work

  • Chemically dosed waterCoagulant, chlorine and pH-correction streams around a water treatment plant.
  • Industrial effluentProcess waste water carrying up to roughly 10 percent solids.
  • Warm process waterDuties up to 80 °C where a polymer lining is still within its service range.
  • Corrosive transfer dutiesWater that has picked up salts or process chemistry and would shorten the life of a metal pump.

Who It Is For

  • Water treatment plants running dosing and chemical conditioning lines where metal pumps fail early.
  • Industrial sites with effluent streams that carry both solids and aggressive chemistry.
  • Buyers replacing a metal pump that has corroded through faster than its bearing life.
Problems It Solves

What It Is Chosen to Fix

  • Casings pitting and perforatingPP, PE and UHMW-PE wetted parts are not attacked by the chemistry that eats iron and stainless.
  • Solids blocking a clean-water pumpA semi-open impeller and a roughly 10 percent solids limit let the pump take effluent.
  • Replacing a corroded pump every seasonA lined pump changes the failure mode from material loss to normal bearing and seal wear.
  • Undersized drives on chemical dutiesDrive ratings to 200 kW mean a lined pump can carry a main transfer duty, not just a dosing line.

Materials

Wetted Materials and What They Are For

  • Polypropylene (PP)The general-purpose lining for dosed and mildly aggressive water at moderate temperature.
  • Polyethylene (PE)Chosen for its chemical breadth on cold effluent duties.
  • UHMW-PEUsed where the stream is abrasive as well as corrosive; the high molecular weight raises wear resistance.
  • Welded or cast baseA welded steel base frame or a cast iron base plate, selected against the driver and the foundation.
Stainless steel centrifugal pump volute casings staged on a pallet after casting and machining
Casings are cast and machined before assembly. The material decision is made from the water analysis, not from the duty point.

Use Guide

Getting This Pump Right on Site

  • Check the stream temperature against the 80 °C operating limit before selecting a polymer wetted part; polymers lose strength well before they melt.
  • Confirm the solids percentage. Above roughly 10 percent the semi-open impeller is the right choice and the duty should be reviewed with us.
  • Do not run a lined pump dry. Without liquid the polymer has no cooling and will distort long before a metal casing would.
  • Specify the base type against the foundation: a cast iron base plate resists distortion better on an uneven pad than a welded frame.

Questions

KCP Series Lined Water Centrifugal Pump FAQ

Which of PP, PE and UHMW-PE should I specify?

PP is the general-purpose choice for dosed water. PE widens chemical coverage on cold duties. UHMW-PE is for streams that are abrasive as well as corrosive. Send us the water analysis and the temperature and we will name the material.

What is the temperature limit?

The published operating temperature is -20 °C to +80 °C, with the pump's ambient range 0 °C to 60 °C. Above 80 °C the polymer wetted part is outside its service window and a metal pump should be selected instead.

How much solids can the KCP pass?

The published solids content limit is approximately 10 percent. For higher solids loading the VNP vertical pump is rated to approximately 20 percent.

Is the KCP a back-pull-out pump?

Yes. The rotating assembly withdraws with the casing left in the pipework, the same as the metal ISO series.

What drive rating can you supply?

Up to 200 kW. The pump also takes an operating pressure to 10 bar and discharge branches from DN 25 to DN 250.
