FA Centrifugal Pumps FAQ
What does FA stand for?
FA is the Flowsteer series designation for its BS EN733 / DIN24255 horizontal end-suction pumps, covering DN32 to DN250.
Why is the impeller bronze as standard rather than cast iron?
Because the series is aimed at raw and potable water, where bronze resists erosion and corrosion far better than cast iron. Cast iron and stainless impellers are available where the water allows.
Which shaft material should I specify?
ASTM 420 is standard. ASTM 304 and 316 are chosen where the water reaches the shaft and is aggressive; ASTM 1045 is a carbon steel option for clean duties.
Does the frequency change the selection?
Significantly. The FA publishes 1450 to 2900 rpm at 50 Hz and 1750 to 3500 rpm at 60 Hz, and the whole curve shifts with speed. Tell us the supply frequency with the duty point.
