Industry

Fire Protection

EN733 end-suction pumps for ring mains, hydrant supply and sprinkler duties, with a 1.6 MPa working pressure option.

Industry Pain Points

What Goes Wrong on These Duties

  • A standard pressure rating that will not certifyFire ring mains frequently sit above what a 1.2 MPa pump can be signed off for, and the rating cannot be raised after the pump is built.
  • Pumps that do not match the EN733 layoutFire packages are coordinated around EN733 dimensions. A pump outside those dimensions turns into a site problem during installation.
  • Impeller material that will not survive standing waterA fire pump spends most of its life stationary in water. Cast iron impellers corrode in exactly those conditions.
  • Incomplete datasheets at approval stageAn authority reviewing a fire package wants published limits, not a promise that the pump will be fine.
What Buyers Need

What a Pump Has to Deliver Here

  • A working pressure rating stated before the order
  • EN733 / DIN24255 dimensional compliance
  • Corrosion-resistant impeller material for standing water
  • Full published flow, head, speed and pressure data

Series Specified for Fire Protection

Typical Scenarios

Where These Pumps Are Installed

  • Ring main pressurisationFA series pumps at the 1.6 MPa option where the ring main pressure demands it.
  • Hydrant supplyHigh flow at moderate head, well inside the 2 to 1100 m³/h envelope.
  • Sprinkler dutiesSized from the published curve at the correct supply frequency, 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
  • Jockey and pressure maintenanceSmaller sizes in the DN32 to DN250 band for maintaining system pressure.
Delivery Capability

How We Handle an Order for This Duty

  • Working pressure confirmed in writing at order stage
  • Flange standard matched to the installed pipe class
  • Bronze impeller supplied as standard on the FA series
  • Complete sets supplied with motor, coupling, guard and baseplate

How to Read a Pump Curve

A published envelope such as 2 to 1100 m3/h is a range of sizes, not the capability of any one pump. Here is how to get from it to a selection.

Questions

Fire Protection Pump FAQ

What working pressure can you supply for a fire duty?

1.2 MPa is standard on the FA series and 1.6 MPa is available on request. Confirm the requirement at enquiry — it is built into the pump and cannot be changed later.

Do you supply fire pumps certified to UL, FM or a local fire authority?

The source catalogue does not publish fire approvals, so we claim none. Tell us which approval the project requires and we will confirm in writing what we can supply against it rather than assume.

Why does impeller material matter on a fire pump?

Because the pump stands still in water between tests. The FA series uses a bronze impeller as standard, which resists the corrosion that attacks a cast iron impeller in standing water.

Which flange standard do you supply?

DIN2501 as standard, with ANSI B16.5 150lb available as an option on the FA series.

Specify a Pump for Fire Protection

Send the duty point, the supply frequency and what the liquid is. We will name the series, the size and the published specification.
