Solution

Cable Termination Indoor and Outdoor

Field grading anti tracking insulation and creepage from 0.6/1 kV to 26/35 kV

Cable Termination Indoor and Outdoor

The Problem

Why This Is Harder Than It Looks

A termination exists because a cable has to stop somewhere. Cutting the metallic screen concentrates the electric field at one sharp edge and that edge is where most terminations fail. Everything else in a termination is about managing what happens after that cut.

Process

From Requirement to Delivered Product

Design material selection prototyping production quality control packing logistics and after sales

  1. 01

    Design

Voltage class conductor size core count and whether the position is indoor or outdoor decide the whole build. Outdoor positions also need a pollution class so the creepage can be calculated.

  2. 02

    Material Selection

Stress control grade matched to voltage class. Anti tracking insulation for the outer surface. Rain sheds counted against the pollution level.

  3. 03

    Prototyping

Sample terminations are built and measured before a new configuration goes into production. For utility approvals we build type test specimens.

  4. 04

    Production

Our own compounds extruded and radiation cross linked in Dalian. Non tracking material is tested to ASTM D2303 at 2.5 2.75 3.0 and 3.25 kV.

  5. 05

    Quality Control

Dielectric strength volume resistivity tracking resistance colour fastness and heat aging tested in our own laboratory.

  6. 06

    Packing

Complete kit in one carton with a pack list. Indoor NSY outdoor WSY and joint JSY are separately marked so nothing is picked wrong.

  7. 07

    Logistics

Mixed part numbers accepted on one order. Standard configurations ship in 5 to 10 working days.

  8. 08

    After Sales

Installation walkthrough on WhatsApp video before a first installation. Any field issue comes back to our engineers directly.

Outcomes

What You Get

  • Partial discharge held to 10 pC maximum at 1.73 U0
  • 1000 hours of salt fog at 1.25 U0 on the outdoor variant
  • Creepage distance built to the site pollution class rather than a generic figure
  • One installation method shared across all three voltage classes
  • Anti tracking outer material that resists dry band arcing in polluted air

FAQ

Cable Termination Indoor and Outdoor Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between NSY and WSY
NSY is an indoor termination. WSY is an outdoor termination that includes rain sheds to build creepage distance. The electrical layers underneath are the same.
How do I know how many rain sheds I need
It depends on the site pollution class and the creepage ratio your standard requires. Light pollution sites need two to three per phase and very heavy salt spray needs six or more.
Can I use one tube for both stress control and insulation
Up to 24 kV yes. C108 combines a zinc oxide stress control sealant with an anti tracking insulating outer layer in one tube. Above 24 kV use separate C102-35 and C101.
Why does the semiconductive screen have to be cleaned off completely
Any residue left on the insulation surface becomes a discharge site. At 35 kV it is the single most common cause of an early termination failure.
Can terminations be retrofitted with extra creepage
Yes. Y3 rain sheds slide over a finished termination and shrink into place with mastic collars. That fixes a flashover problem without rebuilding the termination.
Do you supply type test specimens
Yes. For a utility approval we build the specimens to the drawing and can support the laboratory qualification.
