Product Overview

What C101 Does

Cross-linked polyolefin, with or without adhesive liner.Excellent resistance to electrical tracking and creeping corrosion.Suitable for insulation protection of indoor and outdoor power cable terminations or joints in voltage range from 6KV to 36KV

Red anti tracking outer insulation for indoor and outdoor terminations and joints from 6 kV to 36 kV It is manufactured by Dalian United Polymer Material Co., Ltd. in Dalian China where radiation cross linking extrusion and molding are all performed in house under one quality system.

Key Benefits

  • Anti tracking performance that lets one material serve indoor and outdoor positions
  • Dielectric strength of 15 kV/mm or higher so wall thickness converts directly into withstand
  • Choice of single wall or adhesive lined dual wall for sealed positions
  • Spool supply for high volume kit assembly and cut lengths up to 1.5 m for site work
  • A direct functional alternative to TE Raychem HVOT at a China factory price

Who It Is For

Who Benefits Most from C101

The buyers and site teams this product was designed around

Cable Accessory Kit Assemblers

Companies building their own branded MV kits who buy the electrical layers in bulk and cut to length.

Utility Stores and Maintenance Depots

Depots holding tube on spools so a jointer can build a termination for any cable size.

Switchgear and Equipment Manufacturers

OEMs insulating internal MV connections inside a metal enclosure where creepage across a surface matters.

Repair and Refurbishment Contractors

Crews rebuilding a damaged termination without waiting for a complete kit to be shipped.

Problems It Solves

Problems This Product Removes

Every one of these is a failure mode we have seen on real networks

Tracking Destroys Ordinary Insulation Outdoors

Surface pollution plus moisture creates dry band arcing that carbonises normal polyolefin. C101 passes ASTM D2303 at 2.5 kV 2.75 kV 3.0 kV and 3.25 kV with no burn penetration and no sustained burning.

UV Turns Coloured Tubing Chalky and Brittle

C101 is tested to IEC 60684-3 for colour fastness to light so exposed and unexposed sections stay the same colour.

Kit Sizes Never Match Every Cable on the Network

Buying tube by size band and cutting to length covers awkward and legacy cable that no standard kit fits.

Halogen Release in an Enclosed Space

C101 is halogen free and RoHS compliant with an oxygen index of 25 or above so it suits tunnels shafts and indoor switchrooms.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

Outdoor MV Termination Insulation

The visible red outer layer on a pole top or substation termination.

Indoor Switchgear Terminations

Insulating the exposed core inside an air insulated cable box.

Joint Outer Protection

The final anti tracking and mechanical layer over a completed MV joint.

Busbar and Connector Covering

Insulating exposed MV connection points where surface pollution is expected.

Kit Assembly Stock

Bulk spool feeding an accessory kitting line.

Manufacturing and Quality

How It Is Made and Checked

Compounding extrusion radiation cross linking expansion and test all under one roof in Dalian

  1. 01

    Compounding

Base polyolefin antioxidants flame retardants and functional fillers are mixed to a recipe held under our own formulation control rather than bought as a masterbatch.

  2. 02

    Extrusion

The compound is extruded to the required wall and diameter. Co extruded products form two or three layers in a single pass so no interface can trap air.

  3. 03

    Radiation Cross Linking

Electron beam irradiation creates the cross linked network that gives the material its shape memory. This step is what makes the product heat shrinkable.

  4. 04

    Expansion

The cross linked part is heated expanded to its supplied diameter and cooled under tension so the expanded shape is locked in until heat is applied again.

  5. 05

    Test and Inspection

More than 90 percent of product performance tests are carried out in our own laboratory including tensile elongation heat aging dielectric strength and tracking resistance.

  6. 06

    Packing and Traceability

Each batch carries a production record so a delivered part can be traced back to its compound lot and process parameters.

Use Guide

How to Select and Install C101

The sequence our engineers walk customers through on every first installation

  1. 01

    Select the Recovered Diameter

The recovered inner diameter d must be smaller than the object being covered and the supplied diameter D must slide over the largest point.

  2. 02

    Allow for Wall Thickness

Recovered wall thickness runs 2.5 to 3.7 mm across the range. Stack layers where a higher withstand is needed.

  3. 03

    Choose Single or Dual Wall

Use adhesive lined dual wall where the end must be watertight. Use single wall where the tube is one layer inside a multi layer build.

  4. 04

    Cut and Position

Cut square with a sharp blade. Position with equal overlap onto both surfaces before applying heat.

  5. 05

    Shrink from One End

Start at one end and work along the tube so air escapes ahead of the flame. Keep the flame moving to avoid scorching.

  6. 06

    Verify Recovery

The tube should follow every contour with no trapped air and adhesive should be visible at both ends where dual wall is used.

FAQ

C101 Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask before they place an order

Is C101 a direct replacement for Raychem HVOT
C101 is designed as a functional equivalent to TE Raychem HVOT for anti tracking outer insulation. Confirm the exact size and wall thickness with us before substituting on an approved design.
What does non tracking actually mean
Under ASTM D2303 the tube is subjected to an inclined plane test at rising voltage. Non tracking means no conductive carbon path forms and no sustained burning occurs after 1 hour each at 2.5 kV 2.75 kV and 3.0 kV plus 20 minutes at 3.25 kV.
Which sizes are available
Eleven sizes from 19/6 mm to 130/50 mm. Sizes up to 65/28 are supplied on spool or in lengths up to 1.5 m and larger sizes are supplied in lengths up to 1.5 m.
Can I get colours other than red
Yes. Red is standard because it is the recognised MV insulation colour. Black grey and custom colours are available on a production run.
Is it flame retardant
Yes. The oxygen index is 25 or above under ASTM D2863 and the material is halogen free and RoHS compliant.
What happens if I overheat it
Excess heat scorches the surface and can reduce tracking resistance. Use a soft yellow flame keep it moving and stop as soon as the tube has fully conformed.
