Product Overview

What C35 Does

Single core, 3 cores cable accessories. Suitable for protection of indoor and outdoor electric power cable joint and termination up to 26/35 (40.5) kV.

The highest voltage class in the range covering 26/35 (40.5) kV single core and three core cable to 630 mm² It is manufactured by Dalian United Polymer Material Co., Ltd. in Dalian China where radiation cross linking extrusion and molding are all performed in house under one quality system.

Key Benefits

  • Coverage to 630 mm² so the largest distribution conductors are handled by the same family
  • One installation method shared with C15 and C1 so crews qualify across the whole range
  • 1000 hours salt fog and 300 hours humidity endurance for outdoor and indoor variants
  • Two short circuit regimes tested on both screen and conductor so through fault survival is proven
  • Full documentation package for utility approval submissions

Who It Is For

Who Benefits Most from C35

The buyers and site teams this product was designed around

Transmission and Sub Transmission Utilities

33 kV and 35 kV feeder circuits between primary substations where a failure takes out a large block of load.

Large Industrial and Mining Operations

Mine surface substations steel plants and smelters running 35 kV distribution to process loads.

Utility Scale Renewable Projects

Solar and wind collector systems that have moved from 33 kV to reduce collection losses across large arrays.

Substation Construction Contractors

Greenfield and refurbishment projects that need one qualified accessory family across the whole voltage range.

Problems It Solves

Problems This Product Removes

Every one of these is a failure mode we have seen on real networks

Electrical Stress Rises Sharply with Voltage

At 26/35 kV the field at the screen cut back is severe enough that an ordinary insulating tube will fail. C35 uses a dedicated stress control layer matched to this class.

Large Conductors Mean Long Preparation Lengths

630 mm² cable is heavy and stiff. C35 dimensions are set so a termination can be built in a normal cable box without forcing the bend radius.

Approval Evidence for 35 kV Is Stricter

Utilities apply the full five sequence termination test and three sequence joint test. C35 is designed against all of them.

Pollution Flashover Risk Grows with Voltage

At 35 kV outdoor a short creepage path invites flashover. The WSY variant is supplied with sufficient rain sheds for heavy pollution sites.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

Primary Substation Feeder Terminations

35 kV cable into gas insulated or air insulated switchgear cable boxes.

Overhead Line to Cable Transitions

Pole mounted 35 kV terminations exposed to full weather and UV load.

Solar Collector Switching Stations

Repeated single core terminations at collector circuit breakers.

Mine Surface Distribution

Cable joints in harsh dusty and mechanically abusive environments.

Long Feeder Straight Joints

Joints on 35 kV feeder cable pulled in sections through duct banks.

Manufacturing and Quality

How It Is Made and Checked

Compounding extrusion radiation cross linking expansion and test all under one roof in Dalian

  1. 01

    Compounding

Base polyolefin antioxidants flame retardants and functional fillers are mixed to a recipe held under our own formulation control rather than bought as a masterbatch.

  2. 02

    Extrusion

The compound is extruded to the required wall and diameter. Co extruded products form two or three layers in a single pass so no interface can trap air.

  3. 03

    Radiation Cross Linking

Electron beam irradiation creates the cross linked network that gives the material its shape memory. This step is what makes the product heat shrinkable.

  4. 04

    Expansion

The cross linked part is heated expanded to its supplied diameter and cooled under tension so the expanded shape is locked in until heat is applied again.

  5. 05

    Test and Inspection

More than 90 percent of product performance tests are carried out in our own laboratory including tensile elongation heat aging dielectric strength and tracking resistance.

  6. 06

    Packing and Traceability

Each batch carries a production record so a delivered part can be traced back to its compound lot and process parameters.

Use Guide

How to Select and Install C35

The sequence our engineers walk customers through on every first installation

  1. 01

    Verify U0 and Cable Construction

C35 covers 26/35 (40.5) kV. Confirm the cable is rated 26/35 kV and note screen type wire or tape.

  2. 02

    Select Indoor Outdoor or Joint

NSY indoor WSY outdoor with rain sheds JSY joint. Conductor bands are 50 to 120 150 to 240 300 to 400 and 500 to 630 mm².

  3. 03

    Prepare to the Kit Drawing

At 35 kV the screen cut back position and the semiconductive removal are the two dimensions that decide whether the termination survives.

  4. 04

    Clean Thoroughly

Any semiconductive residue left on the insulation surface becomes a discharge site. Use the supplied solvent wipes in one direction only.

  5. 05

    Fit Stress Control and Insulation

Apply the stress control tube then the non tracking insulating layers building the wall thickness the kit specifies.

  6. 06

    Restore Screen and Seal

Fit braid springs and sealing tubes so the metallic screen is continuous and the ends are watertight.

  7. 07

    Set Shed Spacing Outdoors

Fit rain sheds at the spacing shown for your site pollution class then inspect for uniform shrink and adhesive flow.

FAQ

C35 Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask before they place an order

Can C35 be used on a 33 kV network
Yes. A 33 kV system cable is typically rated 19/33 kV and is covered by the 26/35 (40.5) kV class. Send us the cable specification and we will confirm the exact part number.
What is the largest conductor you cover
630 mm². The 500 to 630 mm² band is available as an indoor termination outdoor termination and joint for both single core and three core cable.
How many rain sheds are supplied outdoors
The standard WSY kit carries the shed count for a normal pollution site. For heavy coastal industrial or desert pollution tell us the site conditions and we will increase the shed count.
Does the kit include a screen earth connection
Yes. Tinned copper braid constant force springs and sealing mastic are included so the screen can be bonded and made watertight.
What is the difference between C35 and a cold shrink termination
C35 is applied with heat and locks its shape permanently against the cable. Cold shrink relies on stored elastic energy in a silicone body. Heat shrink tolerates a wider conductor range per size and costs less. Cold shrink installs without a flame.
Do you provide installation training
Yes. We supply illustrated instruction sheets in the kit and can run a video installation session over WhatsApp for your crew before the first joint.
Is a type test report available
Yes. Ask us on WhatsApp or by email and we will send the IEC 60502-4 test report for the relevant part number.
