Product Overview
What Y2 Does
Cross-linked polyolefin, with or without adhesive liner.Insulation protection and sealing of cable end, cable termination.Suitable for electric power cable, communication cables and other industrial cabling pipeline.
Adhesive lined molded caps that seal a cut cable end against water ingress during storage transport and installation It is manufactured by Dalian United Polymer Material Co., Ltd. in Dalian China where radiation cross linking extrusion and molding are all performed in house under one quality system.
Key Benefits
- A permanent watertight seal on any cut cable end
- Adhesive liner that bonds to the outer sheath and the exposed core ends
- Survives duct pulls storage outdoors and long term drum storage
- Available with an inflatable seal option for pressure tested cable systems
- Sized for power cable communication cable and industrial pipeline
Who It Is For
Who Benefits Most from Y2
The buyers and site teams this product was designed around
Cable Manufacturers and Drum Yards
Every cut cable end on a drum has to be sealed before the cable leaves the works or water wicks along the conductor.
Utility Stores and Contractors
Part drums returned to store need the cut end resealed or the remaining length is ruined.
Site Installation Crews
Cable pulled into a duct and left overnight must be capped or the trench water finds the conductor.
Telecom and Industrial Cabling Teams
The same problem exists on communication cable and industrial cabling pipelines.
Problems It Solves
Problems This Product Removes
Every one of these is a failure mode we have seen on real networks
Water Wicks Along a Conductor for Metres
Once moisture enters a cut end it travels along the strands under capillary action and along the insulation interface. The damage is invisible until the cable fails a test.
Tape and Plastic Bags Do Not Survive a Trench
A taped end pulled through a duct is stripped off. A shrunk adhesive lined cap survives the pull.
Drum Ends Get Damaged in Transit
A molded cap protects the physical end of the cable as well as sealing it.
Reject Cable Costs Far More Than a Cap
Sealing a cut end is the cheapest insurance a cable owner can buy.
Application Scenarios
Where It Is Used
Drum End Sealing at the Cable Works
Sealing both ends before a drum is shipped.
Part Drum Resealing
Sealing the cut end when a length is taken off a drum.
Overnight Duct Storage
Sealing a cable pulled into a duct before the joint is made.
Cable End Protection in Transit
Protecting the physical end against crushing and abrasion.
Pipeline and Communication Cable Ends
Sealing non power cabling against moisture.

Manufacturing and Quality
How It Is Made and Checked
Compounding extrusion radiation cross linking expansion and test all under one roof in Dalian
-
01
Compounding
Base polyolefin antioxidants flame retardants and functional fillers are mixed to a recipe held under our own formulation control rather than bought as a masterbatch.
-
02
Extrusion
The compound is extruded to the required wall and diameter. Co extruded products form two or three layers in a single pass so no interface can trap air.
-
03
Radiation Cross Linking
Electron beam irradiation creates the cross linked network that gives the material its shape memory. This step is what makes the product heat shrinkable.
-
04
Expansion
The cross linked part is heated expanded to its supplied diameter and cooled under tension so the expanded shape is locked in until heat is applied again.
-
05
Test and Inspection
More than 90 percent of product performance tests are carried out in our own laboratory including tensile elongation heat aging dielectric strength and tracking resistance.
-
06
Packing and Traceability
Each batch carries a production record so a delivered part can be traced back to its compound lot and process parameters.

Use Guide
How to Select and Install Y2
The sequence our engineers walk customers through on every first installation
-
01
Measure over the Cable Sheath
Choose a cap whose supplied inner diameter clears the cable and whose recovered diameter is smaller than the sheath.
-
02
Cut the Cable End Square
A square cut lets the cap sit fully home and gives the adhesive a clean face to bond to.
-
03
Clean and Abrade the Sheath
Wipe the last 100 mm of sheath and lightly abrade it so the adhesive keys to the surface.
-
04
Push the Cap Fully Home
The cable end should touch the inside of the cap dome.
-
05
Heat from the Dome Backward
Start at the closed end and work back along the cap so air is expelled at the open end.
-
06
Confirm the Adhesive Bead
A continuous ring of adhesive at the open end confirms the seal is complete.
