How to Choose Within This Category

Confirm the Damage Is Jacket Only

If the core insulation the metallic screen or the conductor is damaged the section must be cut out and jointed. These products restore the jacket only.

Choose Sleeve or Tape

Regular cylindrical damage takes R1 which is faster and stronger. Irregular or branched geometry takes T1 tape.

Check the Application Diameter

R1 sizes list a maximum and minimum application diameter. The cable must fall inside that range.

Clean and Abrade the Jacket

Clean at least 100 mm of sound jacket each side of the damage and lightly abrade so the adhesive keys.

Close the Rail Fully or Half Lap the Tape

The R1 channel must be engaged along the full length. Tape must be half lapped for a continuous double thickness.

Confirm the Adhesive Bead

A continuous bead at both ends and along the closure confirms the repair is sealed.

Cable Repair and Tape Frequently Asked Questions

Can a repair sleeve fix a cable that is still terminated at both ends

Yes. That is exactly why the wraparound design exists. A tube would have to be threaded from a free end which is impossible on an installed cable.

What if the conductor insulation is also damaged

These products restore the jacket only. If the core insulation the metallic screen or the conductor is damaged the section must be cut out and a joint installed using a C1 C15 or C35 kit.

How long can a single repair be

R1 standard length is up to 1.5 m. For a longer damaged section use multiple sleeves with an overlap or tell us the length and we will quote a special.

Is a taped repair permanent

Yes when correctly installed. T1 is cross linked polyolefin with a pre coated adhesive inner layer so the wrap fuses into a continuous sealed cover. Unlike self amalgamating tape it does not relax over time.

Is R1 equivalent to Raychem CRSM

It is designed as a functional equivalent. Verify the application diameter range against your approved design before substituting.

Can these products be used in a flooded duct

They seal against water ingress when correctly installed and are used in buried and duct positions. The repair itself must be made in the dry with the cable surface clean and dry before the adhesive is heated.
