Product Overview
What R1 Does
Cross-linked semirigid polyolefin outer layer provides abrasion and corrosion resistance.Pre-coated adhesive inner layer provides waterproof sealing protection.Rail and channel closure design, suitable for quick repair of damaged power cable in irregular shapes and sizes.
A rail and channel closure sleeve that repairs a damaged cable jacket without cutting the cable or removing the terminations It is manufactured by Dalian United Polymer Material Co., Ltd. in Dalian China where radiation cross linking extrusion and molding are all performed in house under one quality system.
Key Benefits
- Repairs an installed cable with terminations in place and no cut required
- Cross linked semirigid polyolefin outer layer for abrasion and corrosion resistance
- Pre coated adhesive inner layer that seals the repair against water
- Tensile strength of 14 MPa or higher so the sleeve resists further mechanical damage
- Lengths up to 1.5 m so a long damaged section is covered in one piece
Who It Is For
Who Benefits Most from R1
The buyers and site teams this product was designed around
Utility Emergency Response Teams
A damaged jacket found during a fault investigation has to be repaired without an outage extension.
Construction Site Electrical Supervisors
Cable damaged by an excavator or dropped load during installation.
Mining and Quarry Maintenance
Trailing and feeder cable that takes continuous mechanical abuse.
Marine and Port Maintenance
Shore power and crane cable damaged by handling equipment.
Problems It Solves
Problems This Product Removes
Every one of these is a failure mode we have seen on real networks
Cutting and Jointing a Cable to Fix a Jacket Cut Is Expensive Overkill
A wraparound sleeve restores the jacket without touching the conductor insulation or screen.
Tube Sleeves Cannot Be Fitted to an Installed Cable
The rail and channel closure wraps around a cable that is already terminated at both ends.
Damage Is Rarely a Neat Cylinder
The wraparound design suits irregular shapes and sizes including damage over a bend or near a fixing.
A Repair That Lets Water in Is Worse Than No Repair
The pre coated adhesive inner layer seals the sleeve to the jacket on both sides of the damage.
Application Scenarios
Where It Is Used
Excavator Strike Jacket Repair
Restoring a buried cable jacket cut by machinery.
Duct Pull Abrasion Repair
Repairing jacket damage caused during installation.
Mining Trailing Cable Repair
Restoring cable subject to continuous abrasion.
Marine and Crane Cable Repair
Repairing shore power and reeling cable.
Corrosion Protection over a Joint
Adding an outer mechanical and corrosion layer over a completed joint.

Manufacturing and Quality
How It Is Made and Checked
Compounding extrusion radiation cross linking expansion and test all under one roof in Dalian
-
01
Compounding
Base polyolefin antioxidants flame retardants and functional fillers are mixed to a recipe held under our own formulation control rather than bought as a masterbatch.
-
02
Extrusion
The compound is extruded to the required wall and diameter. Co extruded products form two or three layers in a single pass so no interface can trap air.
-
03
Radiation Cross Linking
Electron beam irradiation creates the cross linked network that gives the material its shape memory. This step is what makes the product heat shrinkable.
-
04
Expansion
The cross linked part is heated expanded to its supplied diameter and cooled under tension so the expanded shape is locked in until heat is applied again.
-
05
Test and Inspection
More than 90 percent of product performance tests are carried out in our own laboratory including tensile elongation heat aging dielectric strength and tracking resistance.
-
06
Packing and Traceability
Each batch carries a production record so a delivered part can be traced back to its compound lot and process parameters.

Use Guide
How to Select and Install R1
The sequence our engineers walk customers through on every first installation
-
01
Confirm the Damage Is Jacket Only
If the core insulation screen or conductor is damaged the section must be cut out and jointed. R1 restores the jacket only.
-
02
Select by Application Diameter
The dimension table lists a maximum and minimum application diameter for each size. The cable must fall inside that range.
-
03
Clean and Abrade the Jacket
Clean at least 100 mm of sound jacket each side of the damage and lightly abrade it so the adhesive keys.
-
04
Wrap and Close the Rail
Wrap the sleeve around the cable and slide the metal channel along the rail to close it. The closure must be engaged along the full length.
-
05
Shrink from the Centre Outward
Heat the middle first then work to each end so air is expelled at both ends.
-
06
Confirm the Adhesive Bead
A continuous bead of adhesive at both ends and along the closure confirms the repair is sealed.
