Product Overview
ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord is part of the fiber optic patchcord range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the ST (Straight Tip) interface.
ST fiber cable connector has a bayonet-style housing and a long spring-loaded ferrule hold the fiber. They are available in both multimode or singlemode versions. Horizontally mounted simplex and duplex adapters are available with metal or plastic housing, with a choice of phosphor bronze or zirconia split sleeve. The ST fiber patch is one of the older generations of connector, but is still widely used for multimode networks, including LANs for buildings and campuses.
It remains common in installed multimode building backbones and in industrial or campus networks that were cabled before SC and LC took over. The bayonet pin has to clear the slot fully. A partially rotated ST looks seated but sits off the reference plane and reads high loss.
62.5/125 µm multimode is the older OM1 core size, still present in large installed building backbones. Specify it when you are patching into an existing 62.5/125 plant and core mismatch would cost you more than the cord does.
PC is the baseline physical-contact polish, with a lighter dome than UPC. It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.

Key Benefits
- Supplied as ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord, so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
- PC end face: It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.
- Multimode 62.5/125 at 62.5/125 µm: Specify it when you are patching into an existing 62.5/125 plant and core mismatch would cost you more than the cord does.
- Simplex construction: A single fiber in one jacket, terminated at both ends. Use it for one-way paths, for monitoring taps and wherever a duplex pair would just be waste.
- Factory termination and polishing under controlled conditions, not a crimp done on a ladder
- One supplier for every mainstream connector, polish and fiber-mode combination
Problems It Solves
- Jacket ratings that fail a building inspection after the cabling is already installed
- Long lead times on non-standard lengths, which stall a commissioning window
- Link budgets that pass on paper and fail on site because connector loss was assumed rather than measured
- Cords that drift out of spec after repeated re-patching in an active patch field
Application Scenarios
- Telecommunications
- CATV
- LAN
- Legacy multimode building backbones
- Cross-connecting between patch panels in a campus riser
- Building portable test leads for field engineering kits
Who It Is For
- Distributors who need one supplier for a full connector and polish matrix
- OEM equipment makers bundling cords with their own hardware
- FTTH and access network operators patching between splitter shelves and subscriber feeds
- Data-center and enterprise cabling contractors building out patch fields
Technical Features
- ST (Straight Tip) interface
- The bayonet pin has to clear the slot fully. A partially rotated ST looks seated but sits off the reference plane and reads high loss.
- Multimode 62.5/125 fiber at 62.5/125 µm
- Individually bagged and end-capped so end faces stay clean until installation
- Zirconia ceramic ferrule with pre-polished end face
- Spring-loaded ferrule assembly to maintain physical contact under load
- Bend-controlled boot to protect the fiber at the connector exit
Materials
- Zirconia ceramic ferrule
- Copper alloy or stainless coupling hardware
- PVC, LSZH or OFNP jacket depending on the building code that applies
- Aramid yarn strength members
- Thermoplastic boot and housing

Manufacturing Process
- Fiber and connector kitting against the works order
- Epoxy injection and fiber insertion into the ferrule
- Oven curing of the epoxy bond
- Cleave and multi-stage polish to the specified end-face profile
- Interferometric and visual end-face inspection
- Insertion loss and return loss test on every unit
- End-cap fitting, labeling and individual bagging
Quality Control
- End-face geometry inspection before the cord is allowed to be tested
- Insertion loss and return loss measured per assembly, not per batch
- Tensile and side-pull checks on sample units from each production run
- Visual inspection for jacket damage, boot seating and label accuracy
- Final cleanliness check and end-cap fitting before packing
Customization Options
- Any length from short equipment jumpers to long riser runs
- Mixed connector types on each end for equipment-to-frame transitions
- UPC or APC polish specified per end
- PVC, LSZH, armoured or outdoor-rated jacket
- Custom boot colors, jacket printing and private-label packaging
Compared With Other Options
| SC | SC pushes straight in; ST needs a twist but is quick once the technique is habitual |
|---|---|
| FC | Both use a 2.5 mm ferrule; FC screws down for vibration, ST trades that for speed |
| APC version | APC adds an eight degree angle so reflections leave the core, which matters on PON, CATV and RF-over-glass paths. It is not interchangeable with this part. |
| Single mode version | Single mode costs more at the transceiver but carries reach and upgrade headroom that multimode cannot. |
Handling ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord
Before You Order
- Confirm the connector type and polish at both ends against the equipment and the frame
- Confirm fiber mode and core size match the installed plant end to end
- Inspect and clean both end faces before every mating, including on a new cord
In Service
- Seat the connector fully until the latch or nut engages, then verify with a power meter
- Keep the bend radius above the cord's rated minimum through the whole route
- Re-cap any cord taken out of service instead of leaving the ferrule exposed
Questions About ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord
What do you need from us to quote ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord?
The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.
Can ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord be supplied with a different connector interface?
Yes. ST (Straight Tip) is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.
Is ST/PC-ST/PC 62.5/125 MM Simplex Patchcord available in the other fiber mode?
This item is multimode 62.5/125. Do not mix 62.5/125 cords into a 50/125 channel. Keep the two core sizes physically separated and labeled. The corresponding version in the other fiber mode is available; confirm the installed plant at both ends before ordering.
Can I order non-standard lengths?
Yes. Cords are cut and terminated to the length on your order rather than to a fixed catalog ladder, which is usually cheaper than buying long cords and coiling the slack.
What is the difference between UPC and APC on a patch cord?
UPC uses a domed end face for direct core contact. APC adds an eight degree angle so reflected light leaves the core, which matters on PON and RF-over-glass paths. APC cords are green, UPC cords are blue, and the two must not be mated to each other.
