Work the Page Count in Fours
Saddle stitched booklets fold from sheets, so the total page count must divide by four including the cover. Plan the content to 8, 12, 16 or 24 pages rather than trimming later.
Use a Heavier Cover Than the Text
A cover noticeably heavier than the inner pages stops curling and dog-earing. Lamination on the cover adds further protection for booklets that will be carried around.
Choose Offset or Digital by Quantity
Digital suits short runs and samples at 1-2 working days. Offset becomes cheaper per copy as the run grows and takes 4-5 working days for regular commercial work.
Allow for Creep on Thicker Booklets
As page count rises, inner pages push outward at the trimmed edge. Keep type and important images clear of the outer margin and we will adjust the imposition.

What page counts can you bind?
Saddle stitched booklets need a page count in multiples of four. If your content lands at 14 pages, we will either add two or advise a different binding that suits the count.
How fast can A5 booklets be turned around?
Digital short runs and samples take 1-2 working days. Regular offset commercial work is 4-5 working days, and large quantity runs 10-12 working days before shipping.
Can I see a bound copy before the full run?
Yes. Hard copy digital proofs and mock-ups are available on request, which is worth doing when the page count or the fold sequence is unusual.
How should artwork be supplied for a booklet?
Single pages in reading order as a PDF at minimum 300dpi with fonts outlined. Do not supply reader spreads; we impose the pages ourselves and imposed files often go wrong.
What is the difference between a booklet and a brochure here?
A brochure is a single sheet folded; a booklet is multiple sheets bound at the spine. Once the content passes about eight pages, a booklet holds together far better.
