Woven Bags Printing

Canvas and woven tote bags printed with a customer's logo, sized to carry A4 documents for events, retail and staff use.

Woven and canvas totes are fabric bags with sewn handles, printed after the cloth is made rather than woven with the design in it. The usual specification is a tote sized to take A4 flat, which is what makes it useful at a conference or in a shop rather than being folded away. Decoration is by silk screen printing, with each colour laid through its own screen, which is why a flat two-colour mark costs much less than a photographic image. The decisions are fabric weight, handle length - short grab handles or long enough to go over a shoulder - the bag's finished dimensions against what it must carry, and how many print colours the logo genuinely needs.

What This Solves and Who Buys It

Problems It Solves

  • Plastic carriers are banned or charged for in many markets, and a printed tote is the replacement customers will actually reuse.
  • A bag that will not take A4 flat is useless at a conference, and that dimension is the one most often got wrong.
  • Thin fabric sags under a laptop or a catalogue set, so weight has to be specified against the intended load, not by price.
  • Short handles that will not go over a shoulder halve the times a bag gets carried in public.
  • Screen printing prices by colour count, so a full-colour logo costs far more than the same mark redrawn flat.

Who Buys It

  • Exhibition and conference organisers supplying delegate bags that must hold A4 documents
  • Retailers and boutiques replacing plastic carriers with a branded reusable tote
  • Bookshops, galleries and museums selling a branded canvas bag at the till
  • Universities and schools issuing bags at open days and registration
  • Promotional distributors quoting reusable bags alongside apparel and giveaway lines

Where It Is Used

  • Delegate bags stuffed with A4 programmes at a conference
  • Branded carriers handed out at a boutique till instead of plastic
  • Museum and gallery shop totes sold as merchandise
  • University open day bags with a prospectus inside
  • Market and farm shop bags sold to regular customers

Why Order It Here

  • Automatic, semi-automatic and manual silk screen printing in house, so both short runs and volume orders are decorated without subcontracting.
  • The printed inserts, leaflets, catalogues and swing tags that go inside a delegate bag are produced in the same house and can be packed with it.
  • Artwork is preflighted before screens are made, so an unnecessary extra colour is flagged while the design can still be simplified.
  • Every bag is hand-checked for colour match against the approved artwork, quantity and material quality before packing.
  • Photographs of the finished bags are sent for approval before shipment, and work is redone if it does not meet the agreed requirement.
Specification Guide

Decisions to Make Before You Order

  1. Size Against the Load

Start from what goes in it. A bag that takes A4 flat is the standard for conferences and document handouts. If a laptop or a catalogue set is going in, add depth with a gusseted base. Give us the finished width, height and gusset in centimetres.

  2. Fabric Weight

Lighter cloth is cheaper and folds small, which suits a giveaway handed out in volume. Heavier canvas holds its shape and carries weight without sagging, which is what a retail tote sold at a till needs to do. Tell us the intended load and we will recommend the weight.

  3. Handles

Short grab handles are cheaper and fine for a checkout carrier. Longer handles that clear a shoulder get the bag carried far more often, which is the whole point of a promotional tote. Confirm the handle length and the attachment - sewn to the outside or into the seam.

  4. Print Colours and Placement

Each screen print colour needs its own screen, so cost follows the count. One to three flat colours is the sweet spot. Confirm the print position and width in centimetres for each side, and send vector artwork with fonts outlined and the colours separated.

Woven Bags Printing Questions

Will the bag hold A4 documents flat?

That is the standard specification for delegate and document bags, and it is the dimension most worth confirming before you order. Give us the largest item that has to go in - including any folder or binder - and we will set the finished size around it.

Can you print on both sides?

Yes. Each side is a separate print set-up, so tell us the artwork and the print width in centimetres for each when you enquire. A second side is common where an event logo goes on one face and sponsors on the other.

Can I have a full-colour photograph printed on the bag?

Screen printing is built for flat colour, so a photographic image is expensive and loses detail on a textured weave. Send us the artwork and we will advise whether to simplify it to flat colours or to use a different decoration route.

Can you pack our leaflets and inserts into the bags before shipping?

Yes. Leaflets, programmes, catalogues and swing tags are printed in house, so the bag can arrive filled and counted rather than needing a team to stuff them at the venue. Tell us the contents and the count per bag.

What is the minimum order?

Minimums vary by product; some lines have none, others start at 500-1000 pcs. Screen printing has a set-up per colour, so very small runs carry a higher unit cost. Tell us your quantity and we will confirm the minimum and the price break.
