Self-Drilling Screws
Tek-type self-drilling screws eliminate the pilot hole. The hardened drill point bores through sheet steel, the cutting flutes evacuate chips, and the formed thread engages — all without the operator changing tools.
Drill, tap and fasten — in one drive.
What this family is built for
The drill point is a machined geometry, not a sharpened cone. Its flutes have to cut a hole very slightly larger than the screw's core diameter and then clear the swarf out of the way before the first thread arrives. If the point finishes drilling after the thread has already engaged, the screw jacks the sheets apart; if the flute is too short for the stack, it stops cutting and burns. Point length is therefore matched to the steel thickness the screw is rated for — 1.5 to 5 mm depending on flute.
Head choice is driven by what the screw clamps. Hex washer heads take a nut driver and give a wide bearing face on cladding and purlins; pan and pan framing heads keep the profile low where a panel has to pass over the fixing; wafer and modified truss heads spread load on thin or perforated material. Bi-metal construction — an A2 stainless head on a hardened carbon point — is available where the fixing is exposed but still has to drill.

Variants in this family
5 production lines you can order today
Each variant below is a distinct production specification, not a repackaged version of the same screw.

Modified Truss Head Phillips Self-Drilling Screw
Wide low-profile modified truss head, Phillips drive. Distributes load over a larger area without pull-through.

Pan Framing Head Phillips Self-Drilling Screw
Pan framing head — slightly raised low-profile. Used for steel-stud framing where head clearance is tight.

Pan Phillips Head Self-Drilling Screw
Standard pan head with Phillips drive and self-drilling tip. The everyday sheet-to-sheet fastener.

Truss Head Self-Drilling Screw
Wide truss head with Phillips drive. Distributes load on lath, mesh and thinner sheet materials.

Window Drilling Screw, White Zinc
Specifically engineered for aluminium window-frame installation. White zinc finish.
