What this family is built for
Chipboard and MDF behave nothing like solid timber. The board is a bonded matrix of chips and resin, so a thread that bites too aggressively splits the panel and a thread that bites too little pulls straight back out. Our chipboard screws use a coarse, sharp single- or double-lead thread on a thin shank: enough thread depth to grip the matrix, and a small enough core to keep the board intact around the fastener.
The countersunk head is the second half of the equation. A standard flat countersunk head sits flush in softwood and veneered board; the double countersunk profile adds a secondary bearing surface that stops the head disappearing into dense MDF and tearing the face. Both are produced on the same cold-headed blank, so drive engagement and head diameter stay consistent across the range.
