Why it is built this way
Engineering notes
Aluminium window profiles are thin, extruded and unforgiving. The screw has to drill without grabbing, thread into a wall thickness measured in fractions of a millimetre, and finish with a head that will not foul the gasket channel or the sash travel — all while looking acceptable, because on a window the fixing is often visible.
That last constraint is why this variant is plated white zinc rather than phosphated. The bright finish sits comfortably against mill-finish and anodised aluminium, and it gives the frame fabricator a fastener that does not have to be hidden.
