What makes this job different
Cabinet shops and flat-pack manufacturers work almost exclusively in particleboard, MDF and veneered panel. These materials fail in ways solid wood does not — they chip at the face, crumble around the thread and swell at the edge — so the fastener specification is about protecting the panel as much as holding it.

Heads burying themselves in MDF
A plain countersunk head keeps sinking in dense board. The double countersunk profile adds a bearing step that stops the descent.
Panels splitting at the edge
A thick core displaces too much material. A thin core with a coarse, sharp thread grips without wedging the board apart.
Cam-out on assembly lines
Pozi and square recesses hold the driver under load far better than a tapered cross when a line is driving thousands of screws a shift.
Visible fixings on white melamine
White zinc reads as neutral against light board; yellow zinc is chosen where contrast is wanted.
