Product Overview
FC/APC Pigtail is part of the various pigtail range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the FC (Ferrule Connector) interface.
The screw coupling keeps end-face contact stable when the rack is vibrating or when technicians work on neighboring ports, which is why FC stayed the default on test sets, monitoring gear and older carrier equipment. FC needs the alignment key to seat in the adapter slot before the nut is tightened. Cross-threading a keyed FC is the single most common cause of high loss on an FC link.
APC puts an 8-degree angle on the end face so that reflected light is thrown into the cladding instead of back down the core. Specify APC on PON, RF-over-glass and CATV paths where back-reflection has to be pushed as low as possible. Green housing marks it.
Key Benefits
- Supplied as FC/APC Pigtail, so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
- APC end face: Specify APC on PON, RF-over-glass and CATV paths where back-reflection has to be pushed as low as possible. Green housing marks it.
- Tail lengths chosen for the enclosure so routing stays inside the bend radius
- Connector end face made and tested under factory conditions
- Field work reduced to a fusion splice, which the splicer measures for you
- Bundle versions load a twelve-fiber tray in one pass
Problems It Solves
- Splice trays loaded one fiber at a time when a bundle would do it in a single operation
- Color coding that does not survive the transition from cable to tray
- Pigtail tails too short to route properly inside a closure, forcing tight bends
- Mismatched polish between the pigtail and the distribution frame
Application Scenarios
- Single-mode monitoring taps
- Building custom terminal boxes on an assembly bench
- Emergency restoration of a damaged distribution cable
- Terminating feeder cable inside a dome or horizontal splice closure
- Loading 12-fiber trays in a rack-mounted ODF
Who It Is For
- Assembly houses building their own boxes and terminal units
- FTTH contractors terminating distribution cable into closures and boxes
- ODF and patch panel builders loading splice trays at scale
- Central office teams splicing onto backbone cable
Technical Features
- FC (Ferrule Connector) interface
- FC needs the alignment key to seat in the adapter slot before the nut is tightened. Cross-threading a keyed FC is the single most common cause of high loss on an FC link.
- Color-coded buffer following standard fiber identification order
- Bundle and fan-out versions for multi-fiber trays
- Waterproof versions for outdoor and direct-entry enclosures
- Factory-polished ferrule with inspected end face
Materials
- Zirconia ceramic ferrule
- 900 µm tight-buffered fiber or bare fiber tail
- Aramid yarn reinforcement where the design carries load
- Thermoplastic boot and housing
- Furcation tubing on bundle versions

- Simplex, bundle, fan-out and waterproof formats
- UPC or APC polish
- Buffer color sequence to your own convention
- Ribbon-compatible versions for mass fusion splicing
Compared With Other Options
| SC | SC seats faster with a push-pull motion; FC holds up better where the cabinet vibrates or ports get bumped |
|---|---|
| ST | ST twists on with a bayonet in a quarter turn; FC's threaded nut takes longer but resists loosening |
| UPC version | UPC uses a domed end face for direct core contact and suits general data and enterprise work. Specify APC where back reflection is a limiting factor. |
Handling FC/APC Pigtail
Before You Order
- Check buffer color against the tray plan before stripping anything
- Strip, clean and cleave to the splicer's stated dimensions
- Fusion splice and record the splicer's loss estimate
In Service
- Protect the splice with a heat-shrink sleeve and seat it in the tray
- Coil the tail inside the tray without dropping below the fiber's bend radius
- Cap the connector until the frame side is ready to be patched
Questions About FC/APC Pigtail
What do you need from us to quote FC/APC Pigtail?
The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.
Can FC/APC Pigtail be supplied with a different connector interface?
Yes. FC (Ferrule Connector) is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.
Can I get APC pigtails for a PON build?
Yes. APC is normally what you want on PON and RF-over-glass distribution because the angled end face pushes reflections out of the core. Specify APC per order and the housings will be green.
Are waterproof pigtails available for outdoor enclosures?
Yes, we supply waterproof pigtail versions intended for direct entry into outdoor closures and pedestals. Confirm the gland and enclosure type on your inquiry.
Why use a pigtail instead of terminating the cable directly?
Because a factory-made end face is more repeatable than one polished in a closure. Splicing a pigtail on moves the difficult step indoors and leaves the field crew a fusion splice whose loss the machine reports.
