How Do I Choose the Deck Height

Measure your tallest machine, add the deck height and check it against the lowest bridge, cable and gantry on your route. Work backwards from the clearance, not forwards from the catalogue.

What Departure Angle Do I Need

It depends on the ground clearance of the machines you load. Low-slung tracked plant needs 32 degrees or more; ordinary excavators load fine at 20 to 28 degrees.

Three Axles, Four Axles or Six

Three axles cover up to about 40 tonnes. Four axles carry 50-60 tonnes. Three-line six-axle layouts spread the load at 7000kg per line where per-axle enforcement is strict.

Is a Detachable Gooseneck Worth It

Yes if you regularly carry low-clearance or long-wheelbase machines, or load several times a day. For occasional loading of ordinary tracked plant, a fixed gooseneck with ramps is better value.

Can Cargo Be Carried on the Gooseneck

On most models, no. The gooseneck section is not rated for cargo, and loading it moves weight off the axles onto the tractor.
