For pressurised cyclic transport of high temperature water in metallurgy, chemical and process plants, where a standard water pump would be at its limit.

Overview
The SKWR is the hot water build of the horizontal platform, rated for fluid up to 120 degrees Celsius. It is used for pressurised circulation rather than open transfer, which is where temperature and system pressure act on the seal at the same time.
Hydraulics, footprint and materials follow the SKW family: 1.5 to 1500 m3/h, head to 150 m, drives to 160 kW, with cast iron, stainless steel or bronze wetted parts.

Key Benefits
Published for pressurised cyclic transport of high temperature water, not simply tolerated at it.
Hard alloy mechanical seal faces, or a packing gland where the plant prefers to manage a gland on hot duty.
Close coupled construction keeps the installation small inside a crowded boiler or process house.
Cast iron, stainless steel or bronze casing and impeller depending on the water chemistry.
Application Scenarios
Pressurised hot water circulation on process cooling and heating loops.
Hot water circuits feeding jacketed vessels and exchangers.
High temperature circulation where the circuit is closed and pressurised.
An 80 degree rated pump on a 110 degree circuit destroys seals. A pump rated to 120 degrees removes the cause rather than the symptom.
Seal faces and arrangement are specified for the combination of temperature and system pressure.
Material choice lets the casing match the treated water rather than a generic specification.

SKWR data sheet figures. On pressurised circuits, state system pressure as well as temperature so the seal arrangement is correct.

Materials And Process
| SKWS high temperature pump | The SKWS is rated to 240 degrees. Choose it when the circuit runs above the 120 degree limit of the SKWR. |
|---|---|
| Heat transfer magnetic drive pump | For thermal oil or unattended high temperature duty, a magnetic drive pump has no seal at all, but at much smaller flows. |
Use Guide
Air in a hot circuit collects at the pump. Vent before the first start and after any refill.
Bring the circuit up in stages rather than in one step so the seal and casing heat evenly.
Confirm the circuit has proper expansion and pressurisation before running hot.
Note flow, pressure and current at working temperature, which is the only meaningful baseline on a hot circuit.
Answers
Maximum permissible fluid temperature is 120 degrees Celsius on this model.
Use the SKWS horizontal or SKGS vertical high temperature models, which are rated to 240 degrees.
No. For hot oil use the magnetic drive heat transfer line, which is rated to 350 degrees and has no shaft seal.
A mechanical seal with hard alloy faces is standard. On some plants a packing gland is preferred because it can be adjusted on site.
It needs properly supported pipework, venting and expansion on a closed circuit, like any hot water pump.
