Dosing And Transfer Pumps For Water Treatment Plants
Treatment plants live on small accurate flows: coagulant, polymer, chlorine, acid and caustic. That is a different problem from moving the main stream, and it needs a different pump.
What Goes Wrong On This Duty
Dosing chemicals destroy the pump
Sodium hypochlorite, acid and polymer attack seals and valves. A peristaltic pump keeps the liquid inside a tube, and a magnetic drive pump has no seal at all.
The dose drifts with line pressure
Positive displacement pumps deliver a fixed volume per revolution, so the dose follows speed rather than downstream pressure.
Small pumps gas lock
Chlorine solutions release gas that stops a diaphragm pump. A tube pump simply passes the bubble through.

Injection point pressure sets the pump duty. A dosing pump with too little pressure capability simply stops delivering.

Which pump suits hypochlorite dosing?
A peristaltic pump handles gassing solutions well because the bubble passes through the tube. Send the concentration so the tube material is chosen correctly.
How accurate is the dose?
Delivered volume per revolution is fixed, so with controlled speed the dose is repeatable. For an exact figure against your chemical and back pressure, send both with the enquiry.
What if the chemical tank runs dry?
Peristaltic pumps tolerate dry running. Gear pumps do not, so on those duties we advise on level protection.
Can the pump be controlled from our PLC?
Yes. The stepper motor version is driven by your controller, and variable speed drives can be used on the gear pump range.
Do you supply the transfer pumps as well?
Yes. Filter feed, backwash and general transfer duties are covered by the centrifugal range, including chemical versions with stainless wetted parts.
