CNC Silicon Dispensing Machine

Programmed dispensing built for heavy industrial duty and long running shifts

Overview

What This Machine Does

Dispensing is judged on two things: whether the bead is where it should be, and whether it is still the right size at the end of the shift. A programmed path solves the first. Build quality solves the second.

The Delkotech dispensing machine is described in the original specification as being made of high quality materials with a heavy industrial design, durable, with the propeller quenched to ensure long hours of work, and easy to use. That combination of programmed path and industrial build is what the machine is for.

Bead path, speed and material delivery are coordinated by the controller and stored per product, so changing what you are dispensing onto is an operator selection rather than a setup exercise.

From the original specification: This product is made of high quality materials, heavy industrial design, durable, quenching of the propeller to ensure long hours of work and easy to use.

Key Benefits

What It Changes on Your Floor

Programmed bead path

Where the bead goes is defined by a program, so it does not depend on the operator's hand speed.

Built for continuous duty

Heavy industrial construction with quenched components, specified for long hours of work rather than intermittent use.

Consistent bead size

Delivery coordinated with path speed, so the bead holds its section through corners and direction changes.

Easy to use

Programs selected at the operator interface, which keeps changeover out of the engineering queue.

Controlled material use

Metered delivery removes the over application that manual dispensing uses as insurance.

Application Scenarios

Where It Is Used

Sealant bead application

Applying a continuous seal along a programmed path.

Adhesive dispensing

Placing a controlled bead or pattern of adhesive before assembly.

Gasket forming in place

Dispensing a gasket directly onto the component rather than fitting a cut part.

Potting and filling

Placing a metered quantity into a cavity at a controlled position.

Who It Is For

Plants That Ask for This Machine

  • Manufacturers whose sealant or adhesive consumption exceeds the calculated bead volume
  • Plants with leak or bond failures they cannot trace to a specific cause
  • Producers running continuous shifts who have worn out lighter duty dispensing equipment
  • Operations moving from hand applied bead to programmed application

Problems It Solves

Bead variation between operators

A hand applied bead varies with speed, angle and fatigue, and every variation is a potential failure.

Material overuse

Applying extra as insurance is expensive when multiplied across a year of production.

Equipment that does not last the duty

Light duty dispensing equipment fails in continuous production, and each failure is a line stoppage.

No record of what was applied

When a bond or seal fails in the field, there is nothing to look back at.

Technical Features

How It Is Built

Programmed path control

Bead path stored per product and selected at the operator interface.

Coordinated delivery

Material delivery synchronised with path speed so bead section stays constant.

Heavy industrial construction

Built from high quality materials for durability in continuous production.

Quenched propeller

Specified in the original description to ensure long hours of work.

Operator focused interface

Described as easy to use, with product selection at the HMI.

Recipe management

Programs organised by product so changeover is an operator action.

Specifications

Specification Sheet

Delkotech builds to order, so dimensional and performance values are set against your part at design review, then measured and recorded before shipment. Values not yet fixed for your project are marked TBC rather than guessed.

Manufacturing Process

From Enquiry to Commissioned Machine

  1. Material and path study

The material, the bead specification and the path are reviewed against your real components.

  2. Delivery design

Pump, applicator and delivery control designed around the material viscosity and cure behaviour.

  3. Design and build

Machine designed and built at the Vaughan facility.

  4. Bead proving

Programs created for your products and bead proved on your material.

  5. Endurance check

Run continuously to confirm behaviour over an extended cycle, not a short demonstration.

  6. Installation and training

Installed and handed over with recipe and maintenance training.

Quality Control

What Is Checked Before It Ships

  • Axis positional accuracy measured across the working envelope and recorded
  • Bead applied on customer components and checked for continuity and section
  • Corner behaviour checked specifically, because that is where section drifts
  • Extended continuous run to confirm stability over a shift
  • Recipe recall verified for every stored program

Certifications

Compliance Position

Built to be validated to current regulatory standards. Material compatibility and any process specific approvals are agreed with the customer at design review. Project specific certificates are TBC until contract stage.

Customization Options

  • Working envelope sized to your component
  • Applicator and pump selected for your material
  • Single or multiple applicator arrangement
  • Component fixturing designed for a part family
  • Integration into an existing line
  • Material heating or conditioning where viscosity requires it

Comparison

Compared With the Alternatives

How this machine compares
Hand held dispensing gunFlexible for one off work, but bead consistency, material use and record keeping are all worse.
Benchtop dispensing robotAdequate for light duty and small components. The heavy industrial build here is specified for continuous production.
Manual gasket fittingNo dispensing equipment needed, but a cut gasket carries inventory, a part number and a fitting step that a formed in place bead removes.

Use Guide

Running It Well

  1. Condition the material

Viscosity changes with temperature, and that changes bead section at constant delivery. Keep material at a stable temperature.

  2. Purge before the first component

The first bead after a stop is the one most likely to be short. Purge and check before committing a part.

  3. Check the applicator tip

A partially blocked or damaged tip is the usual cause of a bead that looks correct but is not.

  4. Follow the maintenance schedule

The heavy duty build is specified for long hours, and the maintenance schedule is what keeps that true.

Questions

CNC Silicon Dispensing Machine Questions

What materials can it dispense?

Material is specified with you, because the pump, applicator and delivery control are designed around viscosity and cure behaviour. Send the material data sheet at enquiry.

Is it built for continuous production?

Yes. The original specification describes a heavy industrial design built from high quality materials, durable, with the propeller quenched to ensure long hours of work.

How accurate is the bead placement?

Positional accuracy is agreed at design review against your bead specification, then measured across the working envelope and recorded before shipment.

Can it handle several products?

Yes. Each product is stored as a program and selected at the operator interface, which the original description notes is designed to be easy to use.

Can it be integrated into our line?

Yes. Give us the equipment either side and the signals available, and the handshake is designed in.

Does the material need heating?

Only if the viscosity requires it. Material conditioning is specified at design review once we know what you are dispensing.
