Process Automation Control

Hold the process variable, not just the machine cycle

Why This Matters

Some operations are judged by whether a value stayed inside a window: bead volume, dwell, temperature, force, vacuum. Process automation control is the work of measuring that value in real time and correcting before the part is out of specification.

How It Runs

The Sequence We Follow

Five stages, in this order. Skipping one is what makes the others expensive.

  1. Identify the critical variable

We agree which measurement actually determines whether the part is good, and what the acceptable window is.

  2. Choose the instrument

Sensor selection is driven by the range and resolution you need, not by what is cheapest in the catalogue.

  3. Close the control loop

The controller adjusts the process within the cycle rather than reporting a failure after it. Out of window parts are separated automatically.

  4. Prove capability

The loop is run against known good and known bad conditions so you can see it catching the failure, not just passing the good parts.

  5. Record

Each part carries its process record so a question three months later has an answer.

Outcomes

What You Have Afterwards

  • Process variables held inside an agreed window instead of checked afterwards
  • Out of specification parts separated in cycle
  • A traceable record per part or per batch
  • Fewer rework loops caused by drift nobody saw

Questions

Process Automation Control Questions

What does Process Automation Control cover at Delkotech?

Some operations are judged by whether a value stayed inside a window: bead volume, dwell, temperature, force, vacuum. Process automation control is the work of measuring that value in real time and correcting before the part is out of specification.

Is this sold separately from the machine?

It is part of how the machine is built rather than an add on. Where you already have equipment and want only this capability applied to it, that is scoped as its own project.

Who do you work with on our side?

Usually engineering, maintenance and, depending on the capability, your IT or quality group. Agreeing the interfaces with those people early is what prevents the disagreements at commissioning.

What do we get at handover?

Documentation that matches what was built: the sequence of operation, as built drawings, test records and any data or network arrangements described rather than merely listed.

How do we start?

Email [email protected] describing the line and what you need it to do. We will tell you what is achievable on the equipment you have and what would need new hardware.
