The same rubber covered lobe design, supplied and sized for sludge: thick, abrasive and full of things that block other pumps.

Overview
The sludge lobe pump is the KRL rubber lobe pump configured for sludge service. Body material is cast iron or stainless steel and the rotors are rubber covered, which suits liquid that carries grit, fibre and lumps.
It is used in wastewater, chemical and oil applications, with smooth pumping action from the large bucket geometry and short flow path through the pump.
Key Benefits
Big lumps, fibre and hair pass through instead of wrapping around a rotating part.
Wear parts are replaced in place, with no need to disassemble the piping or lift the machine.
Compact construction takes a fraction of the area a screw pump of similar duty occupies.
Self priming to a maximum of 8.5 metres, which suits intermittent sludge transfer.
Application Scenarios
Moving thickened sludge between tanks or out to a tanker.
Feeding a belt press or centrifuge at a controlled rate.
Handling gas liquid mixtures that would air lock a centrifugal pump.
A short wide flow path plus reversible running clears material that stops other pump types.
In situ replacement of wear parts avoids cutting pipework for every service.
Wear is concentrated in rubber covered rotors and wear plates that are designed to be replaced.
Technical Features

Specifications
Send dry solids percentage, particle size and the flow. Sludge duty is defined by what is in the liquid as much as by how much of it there is.

Use Guide
Dry solids and particle size drive the selection more than flow does.
Keep clearance at the cover so the rotor set can come out without moving pipework.
Sludge lines block. Relief protection stops a blockage becoming a pump failure.
Keep one set of rotors and wear plates on site so a change never waits for shipping.
Answers
Mixed gas, liquid and particles including big lumps, fibre and hair.
Yes, the same rubber lobe design, supplied and sized for sludge duty.
It depends on abrasives and hours. What matters operationally is that they change in place, so the swap fits in a shutdown.
Yes, self priming to a maximum of 8.5 metres depending on the suction arrangement.
Cast iron for general sewage sludge, stainless where the liquid is chemically aggressive.
