FC/PC Adapter SM is part of the fiber adapter range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the FC (Ferrule Connector) interface.
We supply FC fiber optic adapters, including square type, single D type and double D types, in single mode and multimode versions. All these adapters are with metal housing and ceramic sleeves, for multimode FC fiber adapter there is optional bronze housing types. The FC square fiber optic adapter is available in the standard body styles with nickel plated brass or nickel plated zinc housing. FC round fiber optic adapters come with a choice of D Flange (ø8.85 x 7.95mm) or double D Flange (ø9.35 x 7.65mm), and feature nickel plated brass housing for corrosion resistance.

FC uses a 2.5 mm zirconia ceramic ferrule inside a threaded metal coupling nut, so the mated pair is locked mechanically rather than held by a spring latch. The screw coupling keeps end-face contact stable when the rack is vibrating or when technicians work on neighboring ports, which is why FC stayed the default on test sets, monitoring gear and older carrier equipment.
Single-mode fiber carries one propagation mode in a 9 µm core, so pulse spreading stays low and the link budget is set by loss rather than dispersion. Use it for access, metro and long-haul spans, for PON distribution and for anything that has to survive a future speed upgrade.
PC is the baseline physical-contact polish, with a lighter dome than UPC. It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.

No. Mating UPC to APC leaves an air gap that costs a large amount of loss and can damage both end faces. If you have to cross polish types, the correct part is an attenuator or a converter assembly, not an adapter.
