Product Overview

FC/PC Adapter MM is part of the fiber adapter range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the FC (Ferrule Connector) interface.

We supply FC fiber optic adapters, including square type, single D type and double D types, in single mode and multimode versions. All these adapters are with metal housing and ceramic sleeves, for multimode FC fiber adapter there is optional bronze housing types. The FC square fiber optic adapter is available in the standard body styles with nickel plated brass or nickel plated zinc housing. FC round fiber optic adapters come with a choice of D Flange (ø8.85 x 7.95mm) or double D Flange (ø9.35 x 7.65mm), and feature nickel plated brass housing for corrosion resistance.

FC fiber optic adapter applications CATV Telecommunication networks Local Area Networks (LANs) Metro networks Data processing networks Industrial, military and medical FC fiber optic adapter features Compact design NTT-FC compatibility High precision alignment Low insertion and return loss and back reflection* Corrosion resistant body

FC uses a 2.5 mm zirconia ceramic ferrule inside a threaded metal coupling nut, so the mated pair is locked mechanically rather than held by a spring latch. FC needs the alignment key to seat in the adapter slot before the nut is tightened. Cross-threading a keyed FC is the single most common cause of high loss on an FC link.

Multimode fiber carries many modes in a 50 or 62.5 µm core, which makes alignment and coupling far more forgiving over short distances. Use it inside buildings, data halls and campus backbones where reach is short and low-cost VCSEL transceivers do the work.

PC is the baseline physical-contact polish, with a lighter dome than UPC. It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.

Key Benefits

  • Supplied as FC/PC Adapter MM, so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
  • PC end face: It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.
  • Multimode at 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm: Use it inside buildings, data halls and campus backbones where reach is short and low-cost VCSEL transceivers do the work.
  • Color coding by polish type, so APC ports are visible at a glance
  • Simplex, duplex and quad bodies for different port densities
  • Precision alignment sleeve sized for the ferrule and fiber mode

Problems It Solves

  • Mixed single-mode and multimode adapters in the same field with no visual difference
  • Loose panel mounting that lets the adapter move when a cord is pulled
  • Sleeve wear after repeated matings, which shows up as slowly rising loss
  • Panel cut-outs that do not match the adapter flange being supplied

Application Scenarios

  • Optical test and measurement ports
  • Replacing worn ports found during a maintenance sweep
  • Building faceplates and terminal boxes on an assembly bench
  • Creating temporary cross-connects on a test bench
  • Stocking spare ports for emergency restoration

Who It Is For

  • ODF and patch panel manufacturers
  • Data-center cabling contractors
  • FTTH terminal box and closure assemblers
  • Maintenance teams replacing worn ports

Technical Features

  • FC (Ferrule Connector) interface
  • FC needs the alignment key to seat in the adapter slot before the nut is tightened. Cross-threading a keyed FC is the single most common cause of high loss on an FC link.

  • Dust caps on both sides as supplied
  • Color-coded housing by polish type
  • Ceramic or bronze alignment sleeve sized to the fiber mode
  • Flanged, flangeless and square mounting options

  • Private-label bagging for distributors

Compared With Other Options

SCSC seats faster with a push-pull motion; FC holds up better where the cabinet vibrates or ports get bumped
STST twists on with a bayonet in a quarter turn; FC's threaded nut takes longer but resists loosening
APC versionAPC adds an eight degree angle so reflections leave the core, which matters on PON, CATV and RF-over-glass paths. It is not interchangeable with this part.
Single mode versionSingle mode costs more at the transceiver but carries reach and upgrade headroom that multimode cannot.
Use Guide

Handling FC/PC Adapter MM

Before You Order

  • Confirm the panel cut-out before ordering flanged or flangeless
  • Keep dust caps on both sides until the port is commissioned
  • Clean both ferrules before every mating, not only the first one

In Service

  • Replace rather than clean a sleeve that has visible wear
  • Keep APC and UPC ports physically separated and color coded
  • Torque panel screws evenly so the body does not sit skewed
FAQ

Questions About FC/PC Adapter MM

What do you need from us to quote FC/PC Adapter MM?

The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.

Can FC/PC Adapter MM be supplied with a different connector interface?

Yes. FC (Ferrule Connector) is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.

Is FC/PC Adapter MM available in the other fiber mode?

This item is multimode. Core size has to match end to end. Mixing 62.5/125 and 50/125 in one channel costs several dB at the junction. The corresponding version in the other fiber mode is available; confirm the installed plant at both ends before ordering.

How often should adapters be replaced?

Replace when a port shows rising loss that cleaning does not fix, or when the sleeve is visibly worn. In a heavily re-patched field this is a consumable, not a permanent fixture.

Do adapters come with dust caps?

Yes, adapters are supplied with caps on both sides. Leave them in place until the port is actually patched, because an open port in a dusty building will need cleaning before first use.
