Using the compost a food waste machine produces
The output is a soil amendment, not a potting mix - how to blend and apply it.
What comes out of a composting machine is nutrient-rich, but it is concentrated. It should be blended with soil at the recommended ratio before it is used - on industrial output, roughly 1:10 compost to soil in horticultural applications.
Household dryer-type units produce a dry organic output rather than finished compost. Mix it with soil according to the recommended ratio and use it around non-edible plants, flowers or garden areas.
At commercial scale, the compost typically goes to grounds maintenance and landscaping on the same site - which is the neatest version of the loop, since the organisation stops buying soil improver at the same time it stops paying to remove waste.
At industrial scale the material is often sent onward: compost removed weekly and converted at a soil centre into an organic fertilizer tailored to the specific operation.
