What it is
Organic waste carries up to 98% moisture. Drying evaporates that water with heat and mechanical mixing, leaving a dry biomass at just 5-15% of the original volume - sterile, free of weeds, seeds and pathogens, and stable enough to store for many weeks without degrading. For sites with limited space, it is often simpler than composting.
Suited to
- City-centre hotels and catering operations
- Shopping centres and food courts
- Food processors and manufacturers
- Any site that needs a storable output rather than compost
How the process runs
- Waste is loaded into the drying chamber as a batch
- Electric heating and mechanical mixing evaporate moisture over 8-10 hours
- 80-90% of the weight is removed
- The dry biomass is sterilised and stabilised
- Output is stored or applied as a soil amendment
