LC fiber optic connectors and related LC fiber products are widely used in telecommunications and on various kinds of the fiber optic equipment. LC comes from the name Lucent Connector; the name suggests its designer. LC is a typical small form fiber connector that dominates the market today.
LC is about half size of the SC connector and LC use 1.25mm ferrule. LC connectors and related products have both single mode and multimode types. The LC connector family includes single mode LC UPC connector, single mode LC APC connector and multimode LC UPC connector. There is simplex LC connectors and duplex types. We supply various kinds of LC fiber optic connectors, adapters, attenuators and cable assemblies. These products are compliant to TIA /EIA and IEC standard. LC uses a 1.25 mm ferrule in an RJ-style latch body, giving roughly twice the port density of SC in the same panel width. The latch is small and breaks if the cord is pulled sideways out of a dense panel. Use a boot or a push-pull tab on panels packed to 48 ports and above.
Multimode fiber carries many modes in a 50 or 62.5 µm core, which makes alignment and coupling far more forgiving over short distances. Use it inside buildings, data halls and campus backbones where reach is short and low-cost VCSEL transceivers do the work.
PC is the baseline physical-contact polish, with a lighter dome than UPC. It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.
