Product Overview

ST/PC Connector MM is part of the fiber optic connector range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the ST (Straight Tip) interface.

ST fiber optic connectors and related ST fiber products are widely used in today’s telecommunication filed including both long haul and local network applications. ST is one of the fiber connectors that dominate the market today.

ST fiber connector is with twist-lock bayonet coupling, its 2.5mm keyed ferrule meet the durability and repeatability requirement for the fiber optic links. Typical ST fiber optic connector use metal housing, but plastic housed ST connectors are also used sometimes. ST connectors are generally three types: single mode ST UPC fiber optic connector, single mode ST APC fiber optic connector, multimode ST UPC fiber optic connector. We supply a wide range of the ST fiber optic connectors and ST fiber cable products; they are strictly tested during the production and feature the good price and excellent quality. Our ST fiber connectors and related products follow the IEC 61 754-2 standards.

It remains common in installed multimode building backbones and in industrial or campus networks that were cabled before SC and LC took over. The bayonet pin has to clear the slot fully. A partially rotated ST looks seated but sits off the reference plane and reads high loss.

Multimode fiber carries many modes in a 50 or 62.5 µm core, which makes alignment and coupling far more forgiving over short distances. Use it inside buildings, data halls and campus backbones where reach is short and low-cost VCSEL transceivers do the work.

PC is the baseline physical-contact polish, with a lighter dome than UPC. It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.

Key Benefits

  • Supplied as ST/PC Connector MM, so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
  • PC end face: It appears on older plant and on multimode links where return loss is not the limiting factor.
  • Multimode at 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm: Use it inside buildings, data halls and campus backbones where reach is short and low-cost VCSEL transceivers do the work.
  • Bulk packing suited to production rather than single repairs
  • Compatible with standard epoxy and polish workflows
  • Consistent ferrule bore and geometry so polish recipes stay stable

Problems It Solves

  • Spring force drift that changes physical contact under the same mating load
  • Sourcing separate parts for each connector type from separate suppliers
  • Repair benches held up waiting for a single component type
  • Ferrule bore variation that shifts the polish result between batches

Application Scenarios

  • Legacy multimode building backbones
  • Producing patch cords and pigtails on an assembly line
  • Re-terminating damaged cords on a repair bench
  • Integrating optical ports into OEM equipment
  • Practice terminations in a fiber training program

Who It Is For

  • Cable assembly houses producing their own cords and pigtails
  • OEM equipment makers integrating optical interfaces
  • Repair and refurbishment benches
  • Training centers and technical schools

Compared With Other Options

SCSC pushes straight in; ST needs a twist but is quick once the technique is habitual
FCBoth use a 2.5 mm ferrule; FC screws down for vibration, ST trades that for speed
APC versionAPC adds an eight degree angle so reflections leave the core, which matters on PON, CATV and RF-over-glass paths. It is not interchangeable with this part.
Single mode versionSingle mode costs more at the transceiver but carries reach and upgrade headroom that multimode cannot.
Use Guide

Handling ST/PC Connector MM

Before You Order

  • Match ferrule bore to the fiber you are terminating
  • Follow the epoxy manufacturer's mix ratio and cure schedule
  • Polish in stages, inspecting the end face between stages

In Service

  • Verify geometry on an interferometer before the assembly is released
  • Measure insertion loss and return loss on the finished assembly
  • Store unused bodies capped and dry
FAQ

Questions About ST/PC Connector MM

What do you need from us to quote ST/PC Connector MM?

The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.

Can ST/PC Connector MM be supplied with a different connector interface?

Yes. ST (Straight Tip) is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.

Is ST/PC Connector MM available in the other fiber mode?

This item is multimode. Core size has to match end to end. Mixing 62.5/125 and 50/125 in one channel costs several dB at the junction. The corresponding version in the other fiber mode is available; confirm the installed plant at both ends before ordering.

Can I get single-mode and multimode bore in the same connector type?

Yes. Ferrule bore is specified per order, and single-mode and multimode versions of the same connector family are available together.

Are the housings compatible with other brands of adapter?

The housings are built to the published dimensions of each connector standard, so they mate with standard-compliant adapters. If you are matching a specific installed adapter, send us the part and we will confirm before you commit to volume.
