Questions About Stenter Clips

How does a stenter clip work?

At first the clip is open. When the cloth enters, the knife of the clip closes and the cloth is held tightly. At the end of the machine, the clip reopens.

Clip or pin, which is right for my article?

Clips leave no pin marks and suit thicker fabrics, but they need a specific edge, preferably a selvedge, and are usually confined to woven fabrics. Pins hold more tension and run faster, at the cost of pinholes in the selvedge.

Can one part do both?

Yes. Our double use clip for Monforts frames works as a pin stenter and as a clip stenter, which removes the bed changeover from the schedule.

How do I order the right clip?

Send a sample clip. Clip geometry changed across frame generations and is not reliably identified from a model number.
