A stenter is a transport device that carries fabric from one point to another continuously in open width with precise width control. Stenters come in two types, pin stenters and clip stenters, according to how the fabric is held onto the chains.
This part does both. It can be used as a pin stenter and as a clip stenter, which removes the usual choice between the two. The clip section requires a specific edge, preferably a selvedge, to grip and is normally confined to woven fabrics; the pin section carries pins about 5 mm long in two rows at three to four per centimetre, thickened at the base so the fabric does not touch the hot base plate.
