Assess the case
Conversion is worth doing when a plant genuinely wants one specification across several frames, and not otherwise. If you run one frame of each brand and they are all healthy, conversion is cost without benefit, and we will tell you so.
Measure the existing rail
Send a rail section or a dimensioned drawing of the cross section. Rail profiles are where a sample matters most, because the running surface and the mounting both have to be right.
Specify the target profile
Usually Monforts, because that is the profile most plants have most of. The converted rail then takes Monforts sliders, and the chain specification follows.
Rail and running surface
Rails are made from high quality steel or alloy to withstand heat and wear, resisting corrosion and heat distortion. A carbon graphite strip can be fitted as the running surface so the chain rides on graphite rather than on rail metal.
Chain and slider
The chain has to match the converted rail. Copper sliders cope better with a rail that has surface defects; PEEK sliders are self-lubricating and last longer on a rail in good condition, which a newly converted rail will be.
Alignment and commissioning
Proper alignment of guide rails prevents fabric distortion and maintains even tension. Rails are adjustable, allowing fine tuning based on fabric type and desired width, and that tuning is part of bringing the converted frame back into production.

PEEK, on a newly converted rail in good condition. PEEK is self-lubricating, quieter and longer lasting, and it wants a good rail, which is what you will have.
