TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film
Waterproof elastic TPU film for seamless bonding lamination and transfer printing
| Material | Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) |
|---|---|
| Form | Film |
| Thickness | 0.05, 0.08, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 mm |
| Width | 100 cm, 150 cm |
What This Grade Is Built For
A thermoplastic polyurethane hot melt adhesive film supplied in five thicknesses from 0.05 to 0.20 mm, in 100 cm and 150 cm widths and 100 yard rolls. It processes anywhere between 110 and 160 C, stays elastic and flexible after bonding, and is waterproof and non-permeable — which is why it ends up in waterproof zips, seamless pockets and seamless underwear rather than in flat rigid laminates.
Key Benefits
- Wide processing window from 110 to 160 C fits most seam sealing and lamination presses
- Elastic and flexible after bonding, so the seam moves with the garment
- Waterproof, water resistant and non-permeable
- Five thicknesses from 0.05 to 0.20 mm to match the coat weight to the substrate
- Environmentally friendly solvent free construction
Buyers Who Specify This Grade
- Outdoor and performance apparel makers doing seam sealing
- Seamless underwear and activewear producers
- Sports shoe upper converters
- Label, composite and technical textile converters
What It Fixes On The Line
- Sewn seams leak and chafe — a bonded seam does neither
- Solvent lamination adds VOC handling to a garment factory
- Rigid adhesive films crack at the seam when the garment stretches
- Coat weight is hard to control with liquid adhesive on thin substrates
Application Scenarios
- Leather and fabric lamination
- Waterproof zips on outdoor jackets
- Seamless pockets and plackets on ski suits
- Pressing glue for the net cloth of sports shoes
- Seamless underwear
- Bonding labels and embroidery labels
- Sound insulation and heat insulation materials
- Synthetic board and metal film composites
- Electric conductive cloth and reflective material
- Seamless mobile phone covers and IC card packaging
- PVC composites
How It Behaves In Process

How This Grade Is Applied
Step 01
Cut or slit the film to the seam or panel shape
Step 02
Place between the two substrates
Step 03
Press at 110-160 C with the dwell the substrate allows
Step 04
Cool under pressure so the bond sets
Quality Control
Thickness and width tolerance are the control values on film. Ask for the roll data with the shipment.
Use Guide
- Choose thickness by substrate: thin film for light fabric, 0.15-0.20 mm where the surface is rough or open
- Keep the press temperature inside 110-160 C; above that the film can flow out of the seam
- Cool under pressure — TPU sets on cooling, not on time at temperature
- Store the rolls flat and sealed to avoid edge contamination
How It Compares With The Alternatives
| Compared with | What changes |
|---|---|
| Transfer hot melt film | Transfer film is built for heat transfer printing with wash resistance from 140-170 C. This TPU film is the elastic bonding and seam sealing grade with a wider 110-160 C window. |
| TPU powder | Powder follows a printed shape; film delivers a uniform coat across the whole area and is far easier to control on a narrow seam tape. |
| Solvent lamination adhesive | No solvent, no drying tunnel, and the coat weight is fixed by the film thickness rather than by line speed. |

Choosing Hot Melt Adhesive Film Thickness And Width
With film, the coat weight is a specification rather than a process variable. Thickness, width and processing temperature are the three numbers to get right.
Material GuideWhat Is A Thermoplastic Hot Melt Adhesive And When To Use One
Hot melts bond by cooling, not by curing. That single difference explains most of what they are good at and most of what they are not.
TPU Hot Melt Adhesive Film FAQ
What thicknesses are available
0.05, 0.08, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 mm as standard. Other specifications can be customised.
How wide are the rolls
100 cm and 150 cm, 100 yards per roll as standard.
What temperature does it process at
110 to 160 C, which is a wide enough window to cover most seam sealing and lamination presses.
Is it really waterproof
The film is described as waterproof, with excellent water resistance and non-permeable. That is why it is used on waterproof zips and ski suit pockets.
Can it be used for heat transfer printing
Yes, heat transfer printing is one of the listed applications, along with leather fabric lamination and TPU bonding.
