Every product family in our programme is tied to a European standard, and the standard decides the construction, the marking and the paperwork that ships with the goods.
What The Standards Cover
Soft slings are built to EN 1492-1 for flat webbing slings and EN 1492-2 for round slings. Lashing assemblies follow EN 12195-2. Grade 80 chain follows EN 818-2 when it is used for chain slings and EN 818-7 when it is the load chain of a hoist. Manual chain hoists and lever hoists are designed in accordance with EN 13157 and the CE regulations.
Why The Chain Standard Matters Twice
EN 818-2 and EN 818-7 look similar and are not interchangeable. The same 8 mm chain has a different working load limit and a different minimum breaking load depending on which standard it is made to. Sling chain built for hoist duty, or hoist chain fitted to a sling, is one of the most common sourcing errors we correct for new customers.
Marking And Traceability
Grade 80 chain carries G80, identification marks and a batch number stamped at a set distance. Shackles carry the usable load and the nominal size forged into the body. Slings carry a sewn label with the working load limit, the standard, the material and the batch. Chain sling tags in stainless steel 304 link the assembly to its certificate number and sling identification number.
Documents That Ship With The Goods
Every sling is packed in a plastic bag with a CE declaration of conformity. Material certificates and test certificates are issued when they are requested at the time of order, which is why the request has to be made with the order rather than after shipment.
Modification To Local Standards
Where a destination market requires a different safety factor, a different label layout or a local standard reference, the sling is modified at production. This has to be specified on the order because it changes the label and the construction.

Standard selectionWe confirm which standard applies, particularly where EN 818-2 and EN 818-7 chain could be confused.
Marking and label layoutLabel content, batch numbering and any local standard reference are agreed before production.
Production and testingProof testing, magnaflux crack detection and running test loads are applied according to the product family.
Certificate issueCE declarations pack with the slings and any requested material and test certificates are issued with the shipment.

Which standard applies to a round sling?
EN 1492-2. Flat webbing slings and endless flat slings follow EN 1492-1.
Can you supply slings to a safety factor other than 7:1?
Yes. Round slings are 7:1 as standard with 5:1, 6:1 and 8:1 available, and flat slings are built at 5:1, 6:1, 7:1 or 8:1.
When do we have to ask for test certificates?
At the time of order. Material and test certificates are available when they are requested at that point.
