What The US Type Bolt And Nut Shackle Is
After assembly the bolt is secured by the cotter pin against unintentional loosening. This enhances safety because the bolt has full surface contact on both sides of the body, and breaking of the bolt at the thread lug is virtually impossible.

How To Use The US Type Bolt And Nut Shackle Safely
- Select the shackle so its working load limit is at or above the leg load, not the total load.
- Load the shackle in line with the bow. Side loading reduces the capacity significantly.
- Make sure the pin is fully engaged and, on a bolt type, that the cotter pin is fitted.
- Never replace a shackle pin with a bolt of unknown grade.
- Withdraw any shackle with a bent bow, a stretched eye or a damaged thread.
