What The Grade 80 Load Chain For Chain Slings Is
Chain sling chain is not the same product as hoist chain. EN 818-2 chain is made for slinging duty, where the chain is dragged across steel, choked around loads and exposed to heat and chemicals that would end a soft sling.
Every batch is proof tested at 2.5 times its working load limit and the elongation at fracture is not less than 20 percent, which is what gives a chain sling its visible warning before failure. Regular marking on the chain carries G80, the identification marks and the batch number.
