What The US Type Ratchet Load Binder Is
Where a webbing lashing would be cut by the load, a chain lashing is used instead, and the load binder is what puts the tension into it. The ratchet mechanism lets the operator apply and hold tension in controlled steps rather than throwing a lever over centre.
