Who It Is For
Buyers Who Specify G43 and G70 Hooks
- Rigging and lifting distributors building a complete hook range under one brand
- Crane hire and lifting service companies replenishing hooks across a fleet of equipment
- Marine and offshore contractors needing hot dip galvanised G43 and G70 hooks for deck and mooring systems
- Towing and recovery operations specifying slip and grab hooks for vehicle recovery and chain link-ups
- Steel fabricators and precast plants integrating hooks into lifting sets for structural components
Problems Solved
What G43 and G70 Hooks Solve on the Job
- A rigging bill of materials missing a specific hook size or pattern because the supplier only stocks one type from one forge
- A grab hook arriving without a safety latch when the job requires a slip hook with a latch to prevent accidental disengagement
- A hook sized by the chain wire diameter when the application requires sizing by the working load limit, leading to an incorrect load rating
- No Material Test Certificate available, so the hook cannot be documented in a lifting register or safety audit
- A hook with a thin electro-galvanised coating used in a marine environment where hot dip galvanising is required for corrosion resistance
- Small top-up orders rejected by specialist suppliers who only accept full container loads

G43 and G70 Hooks FAQ
What does G43 and G70 mean on a hook?
G43 and G70 are chain grade designations, and the hook has to match the grade of the chain it is used with. G70 is the higher-strength transport and towing grade and normally carries a gold chromate finish; G43 is the lighter commercial grade in plain or zinc plated finish.
How are rigging hooks sized?
Hooks are sized either by the chain wire diameter they are designed to fit, such as 5/16", or by their working load limit, such as 1t. The size is stamped on the bow and listed in the product details.
What is the difference between a slip hook and a grab hook?
A slip hook has a safety latch to prevent accidental disengagement. A grab hook does not have a safety latch and is used for temporary or frequent connections where quick release is needed.
What is the design factor for these hooks?
The standard design factor for rigging hardware is 4:1. This means the minimum breaking load is four times the working load limit. This factor applies to G43 and G70 hooks unless otherwise stated.
Do you supply Material Test Certificates?
Yes. A Material Test Certificate to EN 10204 3.1 is issued with each batch on request. It includes material composition and mechanical properties for traceability.
Can you custom stamp tonnage and add private label?
Yes. Custom tonnage stamping, private label marking, and coloured finishes are available. Send the marking layout and pack format, and we will incorporate it into the production run.
What finishes are available for G43 and G70 hooks?
Standard finishes include hot dip galvanised, zinc plated, and electro-galvanised. Electrophoretic black and powder coating are also available for custom surface finishes.
