Product Overview
FCm-LCf (Ref 289) is part of the hybrid adapter range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the FC (Ferrule Connector) interface. The adapter is supplied as FC male to LC female.
FC uses a 2.5 mm zirconia ceramic ferrule inside a threaded metal coupling nut, so the mated pair is locked mechanically rather than held by a spring latch. The screw coupling keeps end-face contact stable when the rack is vibrating or when technicians work on neighboring ports, which is why FC stayed the default on test sets, monitoring gear and older carrier equipment.
On the other face it mates to LC (Lucent Connector). LC uses a 1.25 mm ferrule in an RJ-style latch body, giving roughly twice the port density of SC in the same panel width.
Key Benefits
- Supplied as FCm-LCf (Ref 289), so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
- Keeps a migration reversible, because nothing is cut
- Compact enough to live permanently in a field test kit
- Wide combination matrix across FC, SC, LC, ST, MU, DIN and E2000
- One part bridges two standards instead of a purpose-built converter cord
Problems It Solves
- Equipment ports and installed plant using different connector standards
- Test sets that cannot reach the port they need to measure
- Migration projects where old and new connector types have to coexist
- Custom converter cords ordered for what is really a temporary connection
Application Scenarios
- Single-mode monitoring taps
- Phasing an ST multimode backbone into new LC equipment
- Bench testing a component with a connector the test set does not carry
- Temporary cross-connects during a cutover window
- Extending a cord's reach through a panel without a new assembly
Who It Is For
- Data-center teams integrating acquired or inherited cabling
- Laboratories and test benches with multiple equipment standards
- Maintenance crews carrying a universal patching kit
- Field engineers testing across mixed connector estates
Technical Features
- FC (Ferrule Connector) interface
- FC needs the alignment key to seat in the adapter slot before the nut is tightened. Cross-threading a keyed FC is the single most common cause of high loss on an FC link.
- Metal or thermoplastic housing depending on the pair
- Panel-mount and inline versions
- Dust caps on both interfaces
- Precision alignment sleeve sized for the smaller of the two ferrules
Materials
- Zirconia ceramic or phosphor bronze alignment sleeve
- Metal or thermoplastic housing
- Stainless retention hardware
- Thermoplastic dust caps

Manufacturing Process
- Sleeve selection matched to the ferrule pair
- Housing machining or molding per connector combination
- Assembly and concentricity verification
- Mating check against both parent connector standards
- Capping and individual packing
Quality Control
- Concentricity verified against both mating standards
- Insertion loss measured with reference cords on both sides
- Retention and mating force checks on samples
- Visual inspection of both interfaces before capping
- Combination and gender verified against the order line
Customization Options
- Any mainstream connector pair on request
- Male-to-female or female-to-female
- Ceramic or bronze sleeve
- Panel-mount or inline body
- Kitted sets for field engineering bags
Compared With Other Options
| SC | SC seats faster with a push-pull motion; FC holds up better where the cabinet vibrates or ports get bumped |
|---|---|
| ST | ST twists on with a bayonet in a quarter turn; FC's threaded nut takes longer but resists loosening |
Handling FCm-LCf (Ref 289)
Before You Order
- Confirm both connector types and their genders before ordering
- Match fiber mode on both sides; a hybrid adapter does not convert core size
- Clean both ferrules before mating, as with any adapter
In Service
- Expect the loss of a normal mated pair, and budget for it in the link
- Do not use a hybrid adapter to bridge UPC to APC
- Cap unused sides when the adapter lives in a field kit
Questions About FCm-LCf (Ref 289)
What do you need from us to quote FCm-LCf (Ref 289)?
The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.
Can FCm-LCf (Ref 289) be supplied with a different connector interface?
Yes. FC (Ferrule Connector) is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.
Are these suitable for permanent installation?
Panel-mount versions are built for permanent use. Inline versions are more often used in test kits and during migrations, though nothing stops them staying in place if the enclosure supports them mechanically.
Does a hybrid adapter change the fiber mode?
No. It aligns two different connector housings onto one axis but does nothing to the fiber. Single-mode has to meet single-mode, and 50/125 has to meet 50/125, on both sides.
Which connector combinations can you supply?
We stock a wide matrix across FC, SC, LC, ST, MU, DIN and E2000, in both male-to-female and female-to-female forms. If your combination is not in the list, send us the two connector types and we will quote it.
