Product Overview
FC-DIN is part of the hybrid adapter range built by Ever Expresslink Limited in Ningbo, China. It is built on the DIN interface.
It is still specified in European telecom and industrial plant built to DIN standards, and in test equipment aimed at that market. DIN and FC ferrules are both 2.5 mm but the couplings are not interchangeable. A hybrid adapter is the correct way to cross between them.
On the other face it mates to FC (Ferrule Connector). FC uses a 2.5 mm zirconia ceramic ferrule inside a threaded metal coupling nut, so the mated pair is locked mechanically rather than held by a spring latch.
Key Benefits
- Supplied as FC-DIN, so the part you receive matches the designation you ordered against
- Keeps a migration reversible, because nothing is cut
- Compact enough to live permanently in a field test kit
- Wide combination matrix across FC, SC, LC, ST, MU, DIN and E2000
- One part bridges two standards instead of a purpose-built converter cord
Problems It Solves
- Test sets that cannot reach the port they need to measure
- Migration projects where old and new connector types have to coexist
- Custom converter cords ordered for what is really a temporary connection
- Gender mismatches between male ferrule ends and female panel ports
Application Scenarios
- DIN-specified industrial installations
- Extending a cord's reach through a panel without a new assembly
- Connecting an FC test set to an SC or LC patch field
- Phasing an ST multimode backbone into new LC equipment
- Bench testing a component with a connector the test set does not carry
Who It Is For
- Laboratories and test benches with multiple equipment standards
- Maintenance crews carrying a universal patching kit
- Field engineers testing across mixed connector estates
- Contractors migrating legacy ST or FC plant to SC or LC
Technical Features
- DIN interface
- DIN and FC ferrules are both 2.5 mm but the couplings are not interchangeable. A hybrid adapter is the correct way to cross between them.
- Male and female body combinations across connector families
- Metal or thermoplastic housing depending on the pair
- Panel-mount and inline versions
- Dust caps on both interfaces
Materials
- Zirconia ceramic or phosphor bronze alignment sleeve
- Metal or thermoplastic housing
- Stainless retention hardware
- Thermoplastic dust caps

Manufacturing Process
- Sleeve selection matched to the ferrule pair
- Housing machining or molding per connector combination
- Assembly and concentricity verification
- Mating check against both parent connector standards
- Capping and individual packing
Quality Control
- Concentricity verified against both mating standards
- Insertion loss measured with reference cords on both sides
- Retention and mating force checks on samples
- Visual inspection of both interfaces before capping
- Combination and gender verified against the order line
Customization Options
- Any mainstream connector pair on request
- Male-to-female or female-to-female
- Ceramic or bronze sleeve
- Panel-mount or inline body
- Kitted sets for field engineering bags
Compared With Other Options
| FC | Same ferrule diameter, different thread and reference geometry; cross them with a hybrid adapter, never by force |

Handling FC-DIN
Before You Order
- Confirm both connector types and their genders before ordering
- Match fiber mode on both sides; a hybrid adapter does not convert core size
- Clean both ferrules before mating, as with any adapter
In Service
- Expect the loss of a normal mated pair, and budget for it in the link
- Do not use a hybrid adapter to bridge UPC to APC
- Cap unused sides when the adapter lives in a field kit
Questions About FC-DIN
What do you need from us to quote FC-DIN?
The quantity, the destination and anything that has to match on your side: connector and polish at each end, fiber mode and core size, and length where the item is an assembly. If you are matching a part you already buy, send the sample and we will quote against it.
Can FC-DIN be supplied with a different connector interface?
Yes. DIN is what this designation carries, and the same family is stocked across the other mainstream connector standards. Tell us the port you have to mate with and we will confirm the equivalent part.
Which connector combinations can you supply?
We stock a wide matrix across FC, SC, LC, ST, MU, DIN and E2000, in both male-to-female and female-to-female forms. If your combination is not in the list, send us the two connector types and we will quote it.
Will a hybrid adapter add loss to my link?
It adds the loss of a mated connector pair, the same as any adapter in the path. Include it in the link budget rather than assuming it is free.
Can I mate UPC to APC through a hybrid adapter?
No. The end-face geometries do not touch correctly and both faces can be damaged. Cross polish types with a proper converter assembly, not an adapter.
