Industry Application

Mining

Mining drives run under shock load in abrasive dust, which is exactly the combination that ends coupling and roller life early. Our joints, couplings and conveyor components are specified for that environment rather than for general machinery.

Pain Points In Mining

What breaks in a mining plant.

Shock Loads Through The Drive

Crushers and feeders deliver impact loads that straight tooth couplings and rigid connections pass straight into gearboxes and bearings.

Abrasive Dust In Every Joint

Sealing, not load, is what ends most component lives in a mining plant.

Conveyor Roller Wear

As chain rollers deteriorate, drag rises and the whole conveyor consumes more energy for the same output.

What Buyers In This Sector Need

  • Couplings that absorb misalignment and shock
  • Sealing specified for abrasive dust laden air
  • Conveyor rollers rated for real chain loads
  • Replacement parts available without long lead times

Typical Application Scenarios

  • Crusher and feeder drive lines
  • Conveyor chain systems
  • Heavy machinery drive trains with alternating load
  • Mining equipment operating at shaft misalignment

How We Deliver

How we handle a mining enquiry.

Drive Or Chain Data

Torque, speed, angle and the environment the component works in.

Selection

Coupling size, joint type or roller rating chosen for shock factor and sealing need.

Manufacture

Production with hardness and dimensional verification.

Stock Planning

Batch supply so critical positions have cover on site.

Delivery Capability

  • Couplings transmitting 15-20 percent more torque than straight tooth designs
  • Working angles up to 6 degrees on drum type couplings and 75 degrees on ball cage joints
  • Through hardened conveyor rollers rated to 28 kN
  • Advanced sealing against abrasive dust

What You Get From Ascon

  • Fewer drive failures under shock loading
  • Lower conveyor energy consumption
  • Bearings and joints protected from contamination
  • Spare stock planned per critical position
FAQ

Mining FAQ

Which coupling suits a crusher drive?

A drum type spline coupling. The crowned tooth allows up to 6 degrees angular displacement and transmits 15 to 20 percent more torque than a straight tooth coupling of the same size.

How do you handle dust ingress?

Sealing is specified for abrasive dust laden environments on both couplings and conveyor rollers, because sealing life usually sets component life in mining.

What conveyor roller ratings do you supply?

N28 series roller wheels with dynamic ratings from 133 kN to 306 kN and static ratings from 174 kN to 426 kN.

Can you match an existing coupling?

Yes. Send the model code if it is visible, otherwise shaft dimensions, keyway and installed length.

Do you supply seal kits separately?

Yes, which is often faster and cheaper than replacing a complete coupling during a shutdown.

Specify For The Real Environment

Send your drive or conveyor data including the dust and temperature conditions and we select the right component.
